Dr. Martin performed surgery on my hip in 2014 for ischiofemoral impingement and I received zero benefit and live with hip pain every day. I regret having the surgery or ever seeing this doctor.

I was referred by my PCP due to hip bursitis. I left that place in tears. He was awful, after diagnosing me with hip impingement and retroversion hip, he offered me surgery and nothing else. He also told me I’d need hip replacement and when I began to tear up he had the nerve to say, in a very sarcastic tone, “it’s not cancer” Not close to having any compassion! After requesting a copy of my report, I noticed he didn’t mention several things to me that he had put into report. I do believe the diagnosis, however, it seemed clear to me he wanted another patient under the knife. Not even giving me an opportunity for conservative treatment. I had to ask my PCP for a PT referral. Very sad. I chose to avoid surgery, and still working on my physical and psychological health. It was a horrible experience.

DR HAL MARTIN SAVED ME FROM TWO UNNECESSARY HIP REPLACEMENTS RECOMMENDED BY TWO OTHER ORTHOPEDIC DOCTORS OVER TEN YEARS AGO. HE REPAIRED BOTH HIPS,WHICH WAS ALL THEY NEED,AND I WENT HOME THE SAME DAY EACH TIME. DR MARTIN IS THE BEST DOCTOR OF ANY KIND THAT I HAVE EVER KNOWN.

Dr. Martin literally changed my life! I had been having glute, hip, groin, TFL and IT Band pain for 5 years before I found him. He was able to fix it all in 1 surgery and I finally feel like I have my life back. I live in Arizona and had to fly there many times, but it was all worth it. I will see him again without hesitation if I ever experience further hip issues. For reference, my surgery include ischiofemoral impingement, labral repair, pincer FAI, glute repair and IT band release.

Very long wait time. Dr. Martin gives a very thorough exam, takes time to answer all questions, and is very knowledgeable if you have hip issues. He gave options for treatment. He has a good rapport with patients.

Please stay away if you have a nerve issue. Orthopedics should not work on nerves at all. Staff at this office is absolutely horrible. Dr. is a nice man but obviously overworked. He should stick to orthopedic surgery not attempt neurosurgery.

Keep up with your search for a patient-focused orthopedic surgeon! There is someone qualified out there who won’t make you feel like a number in a cattle call. I wish I had listened to the numerous negative reviews when I was searching vs. the positive comments. Inconsistencies abound! Poor patient communication (pre-op and post-op), HIPAA violations, contradictory post op instructions, etc. Maybe if I was a pro or semi pro athlete, things would have been different. Six months post-op from isch

I am a RN who found Dr. Martin in 2006 in OKC after searching for a long time. I ended up having both of my hips scoped a year apart in 2006 & 2007. Fast forward to 2017 and I started having pain again so I returned to see Dr. Martin, had a revision done on my left hip. I did not want a hip replacement and was glad to find someone who could provide that option for me. I would recommend him to anyone who is having hip issues. He continues to do research and will guide you in what is best for you

I would definitely recommend Dr. Martin and the Hip Preservation Center. After almost a year of treatments and trying to figure out what was causing my pain, I was diagnosed with Ischiofemoral Impingement, I was referred to Dr. Martin at the Hip Preservation Center for treatment. I was able to get in to see him fairly quickly and surgery was my only option. I had it it less than 3 weeks later. He gave very specific instructions for my rehab & recovery and 4 months post op I am doing great.

I was in excruciating pain after a botched hip replacement. Dr. Martin healed me with his diagnostic, surgical and compassionate approach. After less than 2 years, I was doing activities I never thought I'd get to do again ... long road trips, hikes up 2,000-foot mountains, golf. I sometimes even forget which hip it was. Without Dr. Martin's intervention and expertise, my life would be so different (and complacent).

Went to Dr. Martin for a labral tear. It was fixed, but other things occurred in surgery and now I have pain I have never had. Post-surgery I explained my pain issues and was told I had "Diagnosis A", for which I needed PT. At the follow up appointment (after 3 months of PT), there was no PT report, and not even a mention of Diagnosis A nor the PT. Very nice person, but so scattered and forgetful from one appointment to the next. Had I seen that from Day 1, I would never have gone back.

Not only is Dr. Martin one of the most brilliant Doctors In this county, his compassion, and work ethic is Second to none!!!!!! It may take awhile for him to figure what approach needs to be done, and that's ok, let him do his magic!!!!! I could never thank him enough for what he has done for me!! Truly a God sent!

Dr. Martin is incredible and being only 18 and having one hip surgery and waiting on another one, he has changed my life. However, no matter what time I have scheduled my appointment, the wait has always been 1-4 hours before anyone comes to take you back which is very very annoying and frustrating.

Dr Martin has a charming Charisma and confidence and shows interest in research in hip preservation. However, he does not listen to full history. He has to know, and if he does not know or not sure, he will not admit it and he will give you a list of 3 to 4 surgical problems that you are stuck with him for over year. He forgets some times that his patients are smart and can understand all his medical jargon , yet he will treat you like you can't get it. Even if he is right, his ego repelled me.

Being only 22 years old, and after having hip problems for 5 years, 1 surgery, cortisone shots, physical therapy a lot of frustration, and more, I was referred to see Dr. Martin because my Doctor at the time didn't know what was causing my hip problems. Dr. Martin was a God send! He is very personal, was honest, and such a nice person! He did my 2nd surgery on my hip in October, and I am finally pain free!! He is awesome, and so is all of his staff at the office! I highly recommend him!

Fantastic Doctor! Wish I wasn't still waiting on my refund 3 months after my surgery. They make you pay $800 up front (even though my deductible/ out of pocket) was met. Very frustrating since I don't have $800 laying around. Office staff can be a little rude, and I've always had to wait at least an hour to be seen. Dr. Martin is worth the wait though.
