Goldwaser, DO, is a sports medicine physician specializing in the non-operative management of complex musculoskeletal conditions affecting athletic participation, including chronic and acute injuries affecting the bones, joints, and muscles of pediatric and adult patients. Dr. Goldwaser's training as an osteopathic physician provides additional treatment approaches to promote healing through a variety of options and tailored patient care. As an experienced team physician to high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, Dr. Goldwaser is accustomed to treating injuries sustained in the acute setting of sporting events including: management of concussions, tendon injuries, and leg somatic dysfunctions (including Achilles/Patellar tendonitis). As a former cross-country, track and field, and swimming collegiate athlete, Dr. Goldwaser understands the athlete's need to return to sport and is dedicated to helping people of all levels achieve this. Biography: Dr.Samuel Van de Velde, assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at ColumbiaUniversity Irving Medical Center, is an orthopedic surgeon withNewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Brooklyn. He treats all aspects of the lowerlimb, including pediatric, adolescent, and young adult hip preservation, andsports pathology of the hip and knee. Dr. Van de Velde has a particular focuson specialized surgical interventions for hip and knee disorders, including:periacetabular Ganz osteotomies, femoral osteotomies, surgical hip dislocationand femoral capital realignment, hip arthroscopy, and anterior cruciateligament reconstruction, multi-ligament reconstruction, and meniscalsurgery. After medical school in Louvain, Belgium, Dr. Van de Velde joined the Bioengineering Laboratory at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where his NIH-funded research was commemorated with a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. While in Boston, Dr. Van de Velde was an Instructor in orthopedic surgery at Harvard Medical School and completed his master's degree at the Harvard School of Public Health. He is a reviewer for several medical journals and sits on the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Dr. Van de Velde participated in two medical missions to the Comoros Islands in Africa, where he performed complex limb alignment, corrective surgeries, and trained local providers. Biography: Joshua E. Hyman, MD, is a nationally and globally renowned specialist in the care of children with cerebral palsy and lower extremity deformity. His clinical interests as a pediatric orthopedic surgeon also include hip diseases and dysplasia, neuromuscular disorders, limb length differences, and complex fracture care. As Clinical Director of the Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center, he helps oversee a team of medical professionals that carefully designs and executes personalized treatment programs for each and every patient to achieve the best possible outcomes. He is a staunch advocate for children with cerebral palsy, believing that they, like all children, require comprehensive healthcare. He is dedicated to ensuring the delivery of this high-quality care across the lifespan for patients with CP while also addressing the concerns of their families. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Hyman is a prolific scholar, dedicated medical educator, and mentor. Biography: Dr. Charles A. Popkin specializes in pediatric, adolescent, and collegiate sports medicine, with an emphasis on the operative and non-operative treatment of complex knee disorders. His specific clinical interests involve primary and revision ACL reconstruction, patellar instability, cartilage injuries and disorders, meniscal tears, and recalcitrant patellar tendinopathy. With dual fellowships in Pediatric Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Dr. Popkin has dedicated his career to the comprehensive treatment and prevention of injury in developing athletes. He has a particular interest in the management of ice hockey injuries, serving as a team physician for USA Hockey, and on the USA Hockey National Safety and Protective Equipment Committee. Dr. Popkin is also the head team physician for: Fordham University, Mercy College, and the Hackley School in Tarrytown. In addition to his academic practice, Dr. Popkin conducts research on ACL injury prevention, ACL reconstruction techniques in the pediatric athlete, overuse injuries in youth sports, refractory patellar tendonitis, and shoulder instability in ice hockey. She specializes in treating pediatric patients with a variety of general orthopedic conditions, but she specializes in spine care. She diagnosis and treats children and adolescents with scoliosis and is trained in the conservative, non-operative management of these patients. Prior to joining the teams of Drs. Michael Vitale and Benjamin Roye, she worked in a fast-paced primary care clinic in the Bronx taking care of patients mostly from underserved communities. Even as she now specializes in orthopedics, her training and background have taught her to treat the entire patient and that each patient deserves access to quality medical care no matter their background. Biography: Dr. Katherine Rosenwasser is the Chief of Pediatric Orthopedic Trauma at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) / Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York (MSCHONY).She is an expert in the operative and non-operative treatment of lower extremity deformity and musculoskeletal trauma in pediatric patients from infants to adolescents. Her practice focuses on caring for children with limb-length discrepancies, clubfoot, congenital deformities, and those requiring complex lower extremity reconstructive surgeries. Dr. Rosenwasser's advanced training allows her to leverage the latest surgical techniques and non-operative therapies to provide life-altering interventions for young patients. After receiving her medical degree from Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons, Dr. Rosenwasser remained at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian where she completed residency training in orthopedic surgery, serving as executive chief resident.
