Biography: Dr. Laurel Sofer, MD is originally from Westchester, New York. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. She received her BA in Biology and Mathematics, graduating Cum Laude and was selected for Phi Beta Kappa Society. She received her medical degree at Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel. She completed her Surgery and Urology training at the University of Illinois at Chicago in Chicago, IL. She is a member of the American Urological Society and the International Continence Society. Dr. Sofer's clinical interests include the surgical and medical management of male and female urologic disorders, including benign prostatic hyperplasia, sexual dysfunction, incontinence, kidney stones, and voiding dysfunction. She is well trained across all da Vinci robotic platforms (including the newest Single Port system) for the treatment of prostate and kidney cancer, and reconstruction of the urinary tract. She is proficient in all aspects of the minimally invasive treatment of benign urological problems, including laser enucleation of the prostate. Dr. Sofer is a loving mother of two young daughters. In her free time, she enjoys running, cooking, and spending time with her family. She is bilingual in Hebrew and English. She is excited to be joining the Z Urology family and looks forward to bringing her compassionate, high-quality care to the South Florida community.

Biography: David Taub, M.D., is the director of urologic oncology at Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, part of Baptist Health. He is also the director of urologic robotic surgery. Dr. Taub specializes in treating urologic cancer. Prior to joining Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute in 2016, Dr. Taub was on staff at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Medical Association and the American Urological Association. Dr. Taub also holds a Master of Business Administration from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Dr. Taub's research has been published in peer-reviewed publications, including Urology, the Journal of Urology, BJU International, Neurourology and Urodynamics, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology. He has also presented at numerous industry events and conferences. Dr. Taub's care philosophy is to use a patient-centric, holistic approach. He believes that treating a patient is a team effort between a physician, patient, their families, and other specialized physicians when necessary. His mission is to provide safe, comfortable, quality care to all his patients to get the intended results.
