He came to the United States in 1986 to obtain multiple sub-specialty training at the University of Texas and Duke University. Dr Gamero later received a second residency in ophthalmology at the Catholic Medical Center in New York City. He went on to complete an 18 month fellowship in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma at the University of Louisville, where he stayed as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology for five years.
