In addition, orthopedics allows him to treat a specific problem and usually make a significant improvement in a patient's life which is very gratifying. Dr. Waldrop's major interests in orthopedics include treatment of the shoulder, knee, and hip with surgeries varying from arthroscopy to joint replacement. Dr. Waldrop has been a perennial fixture on The Roanoker magazine "Top Docs" list for more than a decade. He is consistently voted as one of the area's top orthopedic surgeons and general orthopedists by a survey of his peers and nursing staff, receiving awards in 2006, 2008, and every year from 2011 onward. Not to be outdone by his clinical excellence, the Roanoke Valley community has also honored Dr. Waldrop every year since 2012 (the first year of the survey) with Our Health magazine's Best Bedside Manner award for orthopedic care, noting physicians with whom patients tremendously value their overall experience.
