Biography: Dr. Brittany DeBerry earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997, and her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston in 2001. She continued her training at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and was chosen Intern of the Year and Resident of the Year for two subsequent years. She completed her residency in 2006Board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery, Dr DeBerry has been in practice in San Antonio since 2006. She is a past Chief of Surgery at Methodist Hospital. Dr DeBerry is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and Association of Women Surgeons. Dr DeBerry is a general surgeon with a special interest in caring for patients with breast cancer as well as with benign disease of the breast. She enjoys the relationship developed during this difficult time for patients. Her other clinical interests include basic laparoscopy, hernia repair and gallbladder disease.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Dean Kocay has comprehensive experience performing general surgical procedures for many conditions. Whenever medically possible, Dr. Kocay performs minimally invasive surgery, or laparoscopic surgery, which requires smaller incisions than traditional surgery.Laparoscopy surgery is safer to perform and generally reduces the length of hospital stays and recovery times. Dr. Kocay is also experienced with traditional (open) surgery.Above all, treatment is chosen to meet a patient's individual needs. In evaluating a patient my first priority is deciding whether an operation is necessary. If surgery is needed, I explain the procedure and recovery in straight forward terms. I always encourage questions; I feel the more someone understands about their healthcare, the better prepared they are for surgery and the recovery. Many procedures such as hernia repair, thyroid/parathyroid surgery, breast surgery and gallbladder surgery can now be preformed as an outpatient. Minimally invasive surgery is frequently an option and is preferred as long as it is just as safe as the more traditional surgical procedures. I strive for a quick recovery making my patients as comfortable as possible. No one wants to have surgery, but if it becomes necessary then care should be given as much empathy, safety and comfort as possible.

Biography: Telehealth visits are available.Dr. Travis Holloway earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from The University of Texas at Austin prior to moving to San Antonio for his medical school and General Surgery residency training. During this time he also completed a two-year research position funded by an NIH grant and received a Masters Degree in Clinical Investigation. Dr. Holloway joined General Surgical Associates in 2016. He is an active member of the Texas Medical Association, the Bexar County Medical Society, and the J. Bradley Aust Surgical Society. During his chief resident year, he was awarded the Raleigh Ross Scholarship through the Texas Surgical Society and has been a resident/fellow member of the American College of Surgeons since 2009. Dr. Holloway has also published multiple research articles in peer reviewed journals and was also an editor for an online textbook on breast cancer.Dr. Holloway is accepting patient appointments at our Medical Center location and operates in multiple hospital systems in San Antonio.
