Biography: Benjamin J. Bates, MD graduated from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. He completed the Wright State University General Surgery Residency Program. Dr. Bates has a number of certifications including Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma, Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Advanced Trauma Life Support. Biography: Mbaga Walusimbi, MD, FACS, MS, MBA, is a graduate of University of Illinois in Chicago, IL. He completed his residency in Surgery at State University of New York, Buffalo in Buffalo, NY. He went on to complete a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at Lincoln Memorial Hospital in New York, NY. Dr. Walusimbi is board certified in Surgical Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Walusimbi is a Professor at Boonshoft School of Medicine of Wright State University. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Association for the Surgery for Trauma, and the Eastern Association for Surgery for Trauma. Dr. Walusimbi specializes in Acute Care Surgery, Trauma, and Critical Care. He treats a wide spectrum of critical conditions, including complex trauma injuries, respiratory failure, general surgery emergencies, and wounds. His comprehensive approach includes traumatic wound management and surgical interventions, such as minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic abdominal surgery. Biography: Michelle DeGroat, MD, FACS graduated from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and completed the Wright State University General Surgery Residency Program. Dr. DeGroat is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the American Hernia Society. She is an Associate Clinical Professor at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and is the Chairman of the Premier Health system-wide general service line. Dr. DeGroat is board certified in General Surgery and Breast Ultrasound. Dr. DeGroat specializes in general surgery as well as critical care medicine and robotic surgery. She has a special interest in breast cancer, including high risk breast cancer, and provides breast cancer evaluations and care and performs nipple sparing mastectomies. Dr. DeGroat also focuses on surgical treatment for colon cancer. Her otherareas of interest include hernia repair and complex hernia repair.
