Excellent surgeon and communicator, top-notch team
I was suffering a lot of discomfort with a double hernia which had been surgically repaired 20-years ago but re-aggravated. My former surgeon suggested only a senior surgeon should work on it now. Dr. Poulose came highly recommended and did not disappoint in any way, friendly demeanor and extremely clear in communicating his intentions prior to the procedure and afterwards detailing exactly what was done in the surgery. Multiple doctors had explained this to me as a quite complex procedure, but by the day after surgery I didn’t even require aspirin and felt immediately better than I had the past years living with the hernia. Went out to dinner the day after surgery, taking long hikes the following week, minimal swelling or discomfort. Highly recommend this doc and his team at OSU.

Superior Surgeon
Dr Poulose repaired bilateral hernias that I had. As an MD myself, I was impressed as much with his surgical skill as with his bedside manner. The repairs were flawless and I was so fortunate to have Dr. Poulose as my surgeon. He is among a handful of MDs that I would rate as SUPERIOR as an MD and as a person. Rest assured if he is your surgeon that you are in the best hands possible.

Can’t say enough about Dr Poulose. Thank you again
- [x] Top-notch quality & communication. Dr Poulose took the time to explain how a mesh free hernia surgery is an excellent choice but I see another doctor first about my chronic cough. Never coughed during the appointment I mentioned the cough. He is an excellent active listener. He was concerned my coughing would cause a rupture in my sutures post-op. That is how detailed and concerned he is about not just a smooth surgery but also a safe post-op recovery. Dr Poulose is humble, knowledgeable, courteous, kind, professional and he absolutely put me at ease. I am so thankful for this wise surgeon. Dr Poulose took such a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. I could not be more grateful! I finally feel safe. I would give him 6 stars if 5 were the top. Dr Poulose and his team are second to none! The three hour drive to appointments and surgery for the best medical professional is worth it. The world needs more honest, proficient, hard working, caring professionals like Dr Poulose.

Had surgery on April 5th for recurring abdominal hernia, with a surgical background myself, I have to say, Dr Poulose is one of the best I have ever met! He has incredible skills, and my pre and post op with he and his staffat Vanderbilt was superior. I would not go to anyone else for my gen surgery needs. Thank you to Dr Poulose, and his staff and Vanderbilt University hospital.

Dr. Poulose did my abdominal surgery on Oct 9, 2017. At my pre-surgery appointment in his office, as well as when I saw him in pre-op the day of my surgery, he carefully explained the surgery as well as the anticipated outcome. All of my questions were addressed by Dr. Poulose in a very thoughtful and professional manner. My surgery went well, and one week out, my post-op pain has been minimal I highly recommend Dr. Benjamin Poulose at The Vanderbilt Hernia Clinic.
