Biography: Thomas Lei. MD, is the Medical Director of Pulmonary Medicine and Respiratory Lab at Regional Medical Center of San Jose. His interest and expertise are in minimally invasive technology in the diagnosis and treatment of various airway and lung diseases such as lung cancer, lung nodule, benign and malignant airway obstruction, COPD, emphysema and pleural diseases. Dr. Lei specializes in rigid and flexible bronchoscopy, robotic assisted navigation bronchoscopy (RANB), airway stenting, balloon bronchoplasty, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), minimally invasive emphysema-bronchoscopy lung volume reduction (BLVR) and various pleural procedures. He also specializes in a tumor ablative therapies including laser, electrocautery, argon plasma coagulation (APC), brachytherapy, and cryotherapy.Dr. Lei started the navigational bronchoscopy program at Regional Medical Center of San Jose in 2012 and transitioned to robotic assisted navigation bronchoscopy (RANB) in 2021. He specializes in combining advanced fluoroscopy or cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) with robotic assisted navigation bronchoscopy (RANB) to achieve tool in lesion (TIL) confirmation.
