Dr. Paul Griffey, MD

I had surgery schedule for August and September. The lady who schedules the surgery told me to call her back regarding my new insurance. I called to give her the insurance and to cancel and reschedule the July surgery because of a work conflict. I have over 17 documented calls where I have left Voice mails for her to call me back and I have left my work phone as well. As of this writing, September 6th, NO ONE HAS RETURNED ANY OF MY CALLS. I had an appt on September 5th. I called them to confirm it when I didn't get a text reminder. I was told by the receptionist that all my appts and surgeries had been cancelled. She then put me through to the surgery scheduling nurse who she said was at her desk. The call went to voice mail. As of this writing, no call back to reschedule. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. IF THEIR CALL BACKS ARE NON EXISTENT, CAN YOU IMAGE IF YOU HAD THE SURGERY, HAD PROBLEMS AND NEEDED HIM TO CALL YOU BACK. HE WOULD PROBABLY NEVER GET THE MESSAGE. HIS OFFICE STAFF IS HORRIBLE. I chose a new health care with a very low deductible and increased FSA for all of this. to l this. This morning I found another doctor. When I told the receptionist at the new place about my experience, she said she hears that all the time about this practice. Dr. Griffey may be awesome. His office staff is not.

I've been calling for 2 days and no one answers the appointment line... After long waits, I hung up.. he did do my cataracts a few years ago... After a long wait just now. they apparently disconnect callers...

Dr Griffey is great. Fast, efficient. I called his office 3 times the day before my visit. Was on hold a total of 50 minutes, nobody picked up. On the day of my visit was called back 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment.

Needed surgery on both eye and am thrilled with the results. I did research and picked Dr Griffey. Great choice. Most of the office staff are great as well. There are wait times as expected, sometimes more than you might plan for. Also waiting to be reimbursed for overpayments is never fun especially when you pay everything up front. Overall would definitely recommend Dr Griffey since eyesight overshadowed any of the incidentals getting there.

Staff was courteous. Appointment was on time initial exam was very thorough. Dr. Griffey explained everything during my exam and answered all of my questions.

I had to have cattrac surgery on both eyes dr griffey went through all my options and help me to make a good decision on what was best for me. The procedure was very quick and painless to my surprise. the procedures were spaced out too weeks apart and after each one he called me at home too see how i was doing. you wont go wrong with dr griffey.

One thing to be concerned about, have Doctor's Stuffs be advised of when sending out prescription(s) electronically insure it is send correctly to the desire pharmacy location. Ex: If the desire pharmacy is Boone Clinic, then it should be there, not anywhere else.

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Griffey for over 20 years. We’ve always been treated with great respect ,friendliness and the utmost skill by everyone in the practice. We have great confidence in Dr. Griffey’s ability & would not think of going to another practice.

I’ve gone to Dr Griffey for a number of years. When I moved to Hampton Roads he was the first ophthalmologist to diagnose a subtle glaucoma condition in one eye after previous docs missed it. We moved out of the area for awhile and 2 other docs confirmed the subtle changes. Last year he did cataract surgery on both eyes and I left glasses behind. We’ve moved multiple times over the years and he is by far the best ophthalmologist we have ever had!

I always feel like they do everything in an efficient manner, they take the time but don't waste my time! Most importantly i feel like they care from the moment I walk in the door to check in to the moment I schedule my next visit!

Dr. Griffey is an excellent ophthalmologist; is patient, caring, listens to my concerns, and answers all my questions.

If you want a doctor who cares about his patients and is thorough in diagnosis and treatment, and has the greatest attitude and patience, Dr. Griffey is the best. I’m trying now to get my mother to see him for her many eye issues. Great practice, highly organized and continuing to maintain health standards regarding Covid. I respect that!

Eye exams thorough and glasses have been right on the mark. The care has been exceptional. Regarding cataract surgery, I felt very confident, after thorough explanation, that the proposed treatment modality was right for me and Dr. Griffey was the one to do it. Staff is friendly and helpful, very organized! Very pleased with this practice!
