Dr. Michael Smith, MD

My primary orthopedic surgeon referred me to Dr Michael D Smith when I had severe neck pain and could not lift my head upright. I found Dr Smith aloof and uncaring. He was unable to diagnose my problem and seemed uninterested. At our final appointment he said “I don’t see a problem, besides, it’s only pain”. What a horrible way for a doctor to respond. The pain slowly subsided over the next few months. Unfortunately, I was left with permanent nerve damage to my left arm, as well as significant muscle atrophy to my triceps and forearm. By the time I was referred to a different doctor, it was too late to stop or reverse the damage. I will have to live with the results of his incompetence for the rest of my life.

Dr. Smith always gives you a complete analysis of your specific problem, explains what is going on and is a Carrying Doctor. I would recommend him to anyone that I know.

Amazing doctor really listens and gives you answers. I did not feel like just another person on his schedule. I felt like I was the only patient he had that day. Took a lot of time to explain my options for my back issue. Make an appointment today if you want real answers.

Dr. Smith did an excellent job fixing my herniated discs. He took the time to explain everything at each of my appointments, never rushing through. He promptly scheduled my surgery when he saw how much pain I was in at my initial appointment. I was very pleased with the care I received and how well the surgery went.

Dr Smith and his staff were excellent to deal with! Dr Smith is a great listener, and allows you to ask any questions you need to. I was terrified of having surgery on my neck, and he was so calm and understanding. His nurse Anne is amazing! On top of everything!! She follows through on every detail, and makes the whole process smooth. Both of them together, are a great team, and I am so happy with my surgery and my care. I’ve been told Dr. Smith is one of the best and after having a disc replacement done with him I believe he is a miracle worker. So grateful and his nurse is so nice. Made me feel at ease during a terrifying time in my life.

Dr. Smith saved me a lifetime of pain. He gave me options, information and the best of care he could. He made sure every time I left the office I smiled and at the 5 year follow up, STILL remembered what I did for a living. I trusted him then and even more so now!

Dr. Smith didn't listen or communicate well. Every visit I was given different information, he didn't seem to remember me from my previous visits. very disappointing as I was referred to him. Needless to say I will never return.

Dr. Smith is very personable, caring and knowledgeable. I did end up needing surgery after exhausting other options, and he was an excellent surgeon. Everything was explained in detail, surgery went very well and my recovery was closely monitored and successful. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Smith was highly recommended to me by my internist in 2012. Then, and since, he has been informative, careful, thorough, and superb. He suggested ways to try to avoid and postpone surgery back in 2012, but did honestly tell me where I was likely headed (fusion). I had the surgery about a month ago, after my condition continued to deteriorate (as he said it would). My post-op has been almost exactly what he said to expect and the surgery seems so far to be a huge success.

Very informative and competent surgeon. My family really appreciated his post op conversation and explanation. I appreciated his operative expertise. I felt at ease choosing to proceed with his recommended surgery and had an excellent outcome.
