Sad
Used to see Dr. Hanssen, until I didn't. At this moment, I have had 2 misdiagnosis or underdiagnosed issues that could have been under control by this time. That i am finally having treated. And another issue or issues I am still fighting to find out what is going on. Starting as far back as 2014. I gave up in 2021 and went elsewhere. Sadly no answers there either. She'd just answer with, I have other patients with this or that problem. Or I have the same thing. Don't care what others have. I feel like death warmed over and no hope in store of ever feeling better. But thanks.

PCP
Every time I see Dr Hanssen she has always read up on my medical history so I never have to explain things over and over again. She has really taken the time to get to know me and it truly feels like she cares. I have seen plenty of doctors who are just trying to rush through patients and that is definitely not her!

Was my first ever appointment at Avera. She spent max 10 mins with me. She did not ask any medial history or past records, did not ask any general questions about myself, and made no attempt to get to know me. She did not allow me to a second to look up my medical records to share with her from my EHR. She was incredibly dismissive of my concerns and did not look at concerned body part or ask any follow up questions/info. I continually repeated back to my presenting concern and was told I would just have to live with this concern without any other questions or concerns to my extended family history. I continually had to ask clarifying questions and eventually was told I could take a med, which was never explained and still was told there was nothing wrong. She seemed more interested in getting me out of the room and onto the next patient. I left feeling misunderstood, as if my health is not a priority, and incredibly frustrated. I will be seeking a different PCP.

For today's appointment I was asked to be 20 minutes early for an appointment that I was only given 10 minutes for. The dr entered with two other people whom remained in the room, I was not introduced to them and was asked to disrobe in front of all of them. I said no. The dr barely sat down to talk/listen to me, she walked around nervously most of the visit. Spoke medical jargon over my head. No respect to the pt, rushed the visit, and was always close to the door. I will find a new primary.

Dr. Hanssen has been a great match for our family and our needs. She and her nurses are amazing, kind and funny. They make you feel comfortable even when you feel like you shouldn't be.

Dr. Hanssen has been my PCP for a while. She has become opinionated towards treatment and not listening to her patient. She is more interested in getting the patient out of the room and onto the next . She used to take the time to listen now it's to spit out 'studies' show that diagnostics that 'should' be done, don't need to be done because ' studies' show it is not necessary. I am a human being not a study. How dare you tell me my health is less important than a study.
