Dr. Joseph Hathaway, MD

I am completely satisfied with Dr. Hathaway’s care. He is thorough, listens, and is knowledgeable. He has helped me with my IBS and more recently, investigating a problem which led to a referral to a colorectal surgeon.

Dr. Hathaway is very professional and caring. His staff worked me in for an office visit. I was seen soon after checking in. I was also quickly scheduled for an outpatient procedure. Dr. Hathaway and his staff are very receptive to dealing with acute illnesses. I am grateful for them.

I've been suffering for years with stomach issues. He put me on Linzess. So far it a work in progress.

Nurse Practitioner & Dr.Hathaway both very helpful, thorough & professional. Scheduling my procedure was expeditious, & thorough with explanation of prep, & directions for hospital arrival. I am very pleased with Dr.Hathaway, & staff.

I have kind of a long sorry! I’ll do my best to try and make it short. I moved to GA from WA state almost 2 years ago! I was not here long before I became very ill! I was hospitalized 3 times and I am forever thankful that Dr Hathaway was the Doctor on rotation the 1st time I was admitted! I was not here long enough to really even get established so I didn’t have any health coverage. My boyfriend of 22 years made the move with me so I was not alone by any means.. I honestly was at the point that I believed I was going die. I became very scared and lonely wanting my family that lives in WA. Dr. Hathaway told me we would figure this out and he was going to make sure of it! Thankfully he did! He kept his word! I still have minor struggles but I can honestly say, I have recovered and feel better then I have in years! I am forever grateful for that day he walked into my hospital room! He saved my life! Dr.Hathaway- there’s a lot to say here..... he is nice, friendly, personable, knowledgeable .....extremely knowledgeable really.... he is interested in you as a patient but not just within his own office, wants to be sure to be updated if you see any other specialists. He is very thorough always erring on the side of caution to do his best for his patients. I drive past all the other gastro specialists locally, an hour and a half each way - I was told by a referring doctor that she did a little research and he would be the best for my complicated medical mess...lol. And he absolutely brings it to the table. He is very humble and asked why I drive so far to see him specifically when there are so many other gastro’s locally. Where I then recounted to him what I was told. And regardless of him saying that most were still qualified to treat me and he didn’t want my visits to cause undue stress or issue..... I will after five years still say he is worth the drive.

Class act. The wait in his office was too long, however his skill in the operating room and the team he has assembled is impressive. My procedure was minor but the process was explained in detail. Timing was exact. I was impressed and would recommend him highly.

Very thorough and seems to care about his patients. Well worth the wait in my opinion. My experience was better than most of my other appointment with other doctors. Other doctors seem to try and rush you out the door.

I'm very much SATISFIED with Dr. Hathaway. Dr. Hathaway might not have the "Bedside Manner" that some people seem to think is so important.. However, I can most definitely "Overlook" that for EXCELLENT CARE.. Let a "BUTCHER" whom is licensed to Treat People whom are SICK cut you open for surgery and make a mess of your insides.. That should make you think.. I'm "ONE" who's suffering from the things that "Man" (NOT DR. HATHAWAY) RUINED MY BODY INSIDE..

Dr. Hathaway spent time with me asking the right questions and never rushing me. He focused on determining the root cause of my symptoms instead of just medicating my symptoms which I appreciate. Dr. Hathaway is very professional and thorough. I highly recommend him.

I came with a friend to her appointment. Dr. Hathaway's staff was very friendly and nice. I was impressed with the amount of time he spent in the room answering all of her questions. We had to wait but the wait was well worth it. He explained everything and made sure she understood what was going on. He did not rush through the visit. Most importantly, she got to see the doctor. I will be seeing Dr. Hathaway for my digestive issues.

I'm very I'm pressed with Dr. Hathaway as a person and a doctor. I have neurogenic bowel issues and he is doing his best to help me. I highly recommend him!

Exceeding my expectations. He didn't rush through the visit and answered all my questions. I would highly recommend this physician to my family and friends.

Dr. Hathaway is a crook. He charged $3000 for a procedure and after it was billed our insurance company told us the most he could charge for the procedure was $500. Intentionally ripping people off. On top of this his bedside manner is so lacking... it's beyond description. Also he returned our calls WEEKS after our appointments, procedures and return calls. I could not recommend him to anyone. AVOID THIS DOCTOR. ALthough I do like his one nurse, she's nice.
