Dr. Janet Cooper, MD

Dr. Cooper came in, handed us a printout of her proposed protocol, which none of us understood, then sat all the way across the room from us. My mother was newly diagnosed with esophageal cancer and this was our first oncology visit. She didn’t explain anything, just stated that this was her plan for treatment. We didn’t know the stage of the cancer and asked how long she may have. Her answer was “Only God knows that.” We ended the visit immediately. I can’t believe she is an oncologist. She has the compassion of a cactus. Stay away from her.

All I can say is that she was very short (rude) as if we were wasting her time. I would give a 0 rating but it will not let me continue so 1 star it is. I was referred to her back in 2022 and let me tell you her bed side manner needs a lot of work. She would not listen to a word that we were trying to explain to her. She just kept interrupting saying she don't understand why we were there she don't understand why we were sent there. You take an oath for what to treat patients like they do not matter. If that is the case then maybe you should have chosen a different profession. Yes it took me some time to write this it is best to wait versus saying something that I would regret. Thankfully, I was able to find another Doctor that took the time to listen and finally found the cause. Take a lesson Doctor Cooper patience, respect and doing your job goes along way

This was an initial visit. Dr. Cooper failed to confirm my identity until after tell me the pathology findings and her determination that the surgeon did not understand indications for immunotherapy—about 5 minutes into the appointment. She made no attempt to verify that I had been previously informed of pathology findings —which I hadn’t! She did not know how to pronounce the chemotherapy medication. She did share a visual protocol for determining next steps in treatment. Overall she gave absolutely no sign that she was interested in me as a living, breathing person. I was treated like an object to be managed. I would never go back. If she happened to be the only oncologist available, I would go to a different, out of network practice.
