Dr. Awet Gherezghiher, MD

Went in for elevated PSA which led to a coincidental find of a large tumor elsewhere. I'm so thankful for the diagnostic work that led to my successful surgery. It all started with Dr G's running the appropriate tests and continuous follow up care. He's great at answering questions and not over-prescribing medicines or treatments.

Mostly on time and interested in you and not just the diagnosis or treatment

Dr. Gherezghiher talks to you and listens to your concerns and questions. He has been my urologist for a number of years and he always is in a good mood and answers all my questions. I could not recommend a more knowledgeable or skilled urologist.

A very competent doctor that dealt with my husbands low grade bladder cancer and aced it across the board. His bedside manner is fab. We are certainly sad to see him leave Urology Specialists, as he is the creme de la creme of urologists.

I "inherited" Dr G after my Doc retired. He's a great guy, always and patiently explaining every detail, both before and after. I'm sorry to see him leave Tucson but I understand Urological Associates Of Southern AZ changed after getting bought out by some corporate giant from the east coast.

Personable, informed, calm yet carefully explains all the possible issues, yet the surgery turned out wonderful.

I've had good urologists, I've had bad urologists, and I had one truly awful one that could have killed me except for some knowledgeable paramedics. And I have prostate cancer. Dr. Gherezghiher is the best of the bunch. He has performed the procedures well and evaluated tests correctly. Of course, nothing lasts forever, but I hope I can use his services for as long as I need.

My husband went to see Dr. Gherezghiher after finding some blood in his urine. He's 37 years old and a very healthy guy. Admittedly he was a bit nervous about having a prostate exam. Doc insinuated it was "risky sexual activity" that was likely the cause for his painful urination. We've been happily married for 7 years and there is certainly no affair going on under our roof. There was no concern for his nervousness and the doc made no effort whatsoever to talk him through what the exam would entail. After the exam, there was ZERO follow up on the results and the patient line resulted in dead-end after dead-end. Why does one have to work so hard in Tucson to get adequate care?

Dr. G was reluctant to biopsy my enlarged prostate, so we followed a “wait and see” approach for 3 years with consistent bi-yearly visits. Finally he said it was time for an MRI, which was slowly followed by a biopsy. After he received the results, he waited two weeks to tell me the results—that I had advanced prostate cancer (Gleason 7 and 9 areas). He said the only treatment for someone of my age was radiation followed by hormone therapy. I immediately found another doctor and had the entire prostate removed with excellent results. My treatment from him was inflexible and not timely.

A good experience. He was thorough and gentle.

Dr. G Could not give me a clear answer as to why he needed more invasive imagining and forcedly wanted me to have CT scan. He told me that I would need to have 4 surgeries to remove 3 kidney stones, 2 on the right and one on the left. He was very cocky and made me feel as if I knew nothing and repeatedly told me that pain I have is not coming from my kidney stones. I do not recommend him or the office he practices at, Urological Asct. to anyone.
