Care Philosophy: Kurt Duncan, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon who specializes in management of various conditions that affect the neck and low back. Diagnostic tools such as X-rays and advanced imaging (MRI, CT scan), EMG, and diagnostic/therapeutic injections are sometimes used to help make a diagnosis. In many cases some of these studies have already been done before your first appointment. Once a diagnosis is made, Dr. Duncan believes that educating his patients about their condition and what outcomes they should expect is paramount. Except in urgent situations, non-surgical treatments usually precedes surgical treatment. If surgery is indicated, Dr. Duncan discusses available surgical options with his patients so that they can make an informed decision about their course of treatment. He believes that this type of patient-doctor relationship allows each unique patient to come to a decision that best matches their goals of treatment and best fits their overall health status.

Care Philosophy: With my experience as an athletic trainer and athlete, I was naturally drawn to orthopedics and sports medicine in particular. It's very rewarding for me to see patients arrive with an injury, be directly involved with repairing what's broken, and then get them back to the activities they love. Keeping a patient active can also help with the prevention of other medical concerns such as hypertension or heart disease. As a result, I find being a physician assistant in orthopedics to be both exciting and multifaceted.

Care Philosophy: As a physician assistant and previous athletic trainer, I have always had a passion for orthopedics and sports medicine. I see patients with hand and wrist injuries or pain and work closely with our hand and wrist surgeons. I love caring for sports-related injuries and helping athletes return to play. I strive to provide quality, patient-centered care that fits the needs of each individual and allows them to return to the activities they love.

Care Philosophy: I am an orthopedic surgeon with dedicated training in sports medicine, hip arthroscopy and hip preservation surgery from the prestigious Boston Children's Hospital at Harvard Medical School. This is the oldest program of its kind in the United States. I am one of a small number of surgeons in the state with training in both sports medicine/hip arthroscopy and periacetabular osteotomy. I have a great passion for treating pre-arthritic conditions of the hip and am excited about the prospects of these surgeries to help patients return to their desired activity level. There is growing evidence to support that hip preservation surgery has the potential to delay or even prevent the need for a total hip replacement. Most importantly, I grew up in the Twin Cities and am excited to use my training to help maximize the quality of life for my patients.
