Follow up care after a procedure is almost non-existent! I called and told her my daughter was having issues after a second surgery by her. She brushed me off and told me to take her to her primary doctor. What the heck is a primary doctor going to do after a "specialist" has performed not 1 but, TWO surgeries on your childs hand!?!? Pretty sad!!!

Nightmare of a human being
I have permanent nerve damage due to her negligence. Despite me telling her for months something was terribly wrong following a surgery, she told me that was impossible and it was all in my head. Turns out, had she actually listened the nerve that was pinched off wouldn’t have completely died. After this was discovered she told me this was a common complication and it could easily happen again. So it is both impossible and common at the same time. She might look good on paper but it’s not worth it. Find someone capable of listening to you.

She lied to me. Told me I had a cyst, refused to order an MRI. Got a second opinion, turns out it was a tumor that had to be removed because it might spread. Worst part was that she laughed at me when I asked about getting an MRI for pretending to be "Dr. Google." I could have lost my arm.

After the first specialist misdiagnosed my daughter at birth, a year later we met Dr Van Heest. Within minutes of looking at my daughter she knew she didn't have a brachial plexus injury, but instead has Neonatal Compartment Syndrome! My daughter will soon be 3 and although there is still room for improvement, she's doing great! Dr Van Heest is very straight forward and to the point, she definitely knows her stuff!

Terrible doctor; even worse human being. Didn't listen to my concerns and only spent 2 minutes with me. Made me feel really stupid for asking questions and called me a name. I have never met a more rude and less compassionate doctor. I doubt she even cares about her patient. She misdiagnosed me and and when I went to have surgery I ended up with permanent nerve damage and chronic pain. I went to have another doctor who ran a test that she had refused and I probably didn't need surgery!

Waited months to see Van Heest only to be examined by the resident. Van Heest did stop in for a quick 5 min chat. She didn't even look at my wrist. What a disappointment and a waste of my tie and money.

Dr. Van Heest is a lifesaver (actually career saver)! I've seen her off and on, as needed for about 20 years. As a musician she saved my career by surgically performing ulnar nerve transpositions and once the nerves regenerated I can't tell that I ever had a career ending problem. I saw her again after a wrist fracture wasn't healing. She repaired it with a bone graft and while I still have some pain (age?) I can continue as a professional musician. She is the top hand/arm surgeon in Mpls!
