Biography: Dr. Carolyn Mulroney is a board-certified hematologist who has joined The Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program at MountainView Hospital. She brings more than 30 years of diverse experience and skills in the fields of oncology and hematology, including cellular therapy and hematopoietic stem cell transplant and completed board certifications in hematology, medical oncology, and internal medicine.After completing her fellowships, she began her medical career in 1992 with a joint appointment in the Division of Blood and Marrow Transplant at the University of California, San Diego and in the Department of Medical Education at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, in San Diego. During this time, she became an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and was actively involved in the early growth of the hematopoietic transplant program at UCSD in addition to teaching medical students, residents and hematology/oncology fellows. During her years of caring for patients with blood disorders and blood cancers, Dr. Mulroney was briefly in in private practice but returned to UCSD where she most recently has served as a Clinical Professor Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Division of Blood and Marrow Transplant. She has had extensive experience in treating hematologic malignancies, other nonmalignant blood disorders, and in providing hematopoietic transplant and cellular therapy in these settings. During her decades of service at UCSD she served as clinical director of cancer medicine at Moore's Cancer Center and in numerous clinical and educational committees across the University. For the past four years, Dr. Mulroney has held the position of Clinical Director of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at UCSD/Sharp Healthcare Program. Dr. Mulroney has authored numerous research articles and abstracts. She is a member of several professional societies including American Society of Hematology, American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation, and Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies, among others.

Care Philosophy: I believe that cancer patients are in the most vulnerable situation. They have to face many uncertainties, loaded with many questions and burdened with ongoing fears, not only related to their disease, but also related to their loved ones. It truly takes a village to treat a someone diagnosed with cancer. The field of oncology is humbling and teaches us all about humanity. We are not immortal, and we are merely human beings. For me, it is such an honor and privilege to get to know my patients and for them to open up to me. My goal is to compassionately provide my patients with the best medical recommendations and treatment plans tailored to their individual needs. I want to help guide them through their journey.
