Dr Ponce is a board-certified ophthalmologist who grew up in Guatemala and graduated from Francisco Marroquin University in Guatemala where he obtained his Bachelor in Science and MD degree. His interest in retina started when he did his residency in ophthalmology at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary where he was involved in retinal imaging studies and lutein measurement. He then continued his training by completing a fellowship in medical and surgical treatment of Retinal diseases at the Infirmary.

Abayomi Fabunmi, MD, is a board-eligible, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who specializes in the treatment of adult glaucoma and cataracts. Dr Fabunmi completed medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN, where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Society and Alpha Omega Alpha. During his tenure Dr Fabunmi completed a clerkship at The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, where he authored a review article and a workshop about key topics in glaucoma. For his ophthalmology training, Dr Fabunmi attended Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals of Cleveland, Ohio, where he had the honor of caring for our veterans at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center.

Jeffrey Wipfli, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in advanced cataract surgery, LASIK and other refractive surgeries. As one of the most experienced eye surgeons in his field, Dr Wipfli can advise patients on the full range of surgical and lens options available to best address their needs and accomplish their vision goals. Dr Wipfli is consistently recognized by colleagues for his commitment to surgical excellence and praised by patients for his personal approach to their care.

Dr Scherer earned his Bachelor of Science Degree and Doctor of Medicine from State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Magna Cum Laude, respectively, as well as a PhD in visual neuroscience. His program of study included an internship at the Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, with a focus on internal medicine. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Michigan's W.K. Kellogg eye care center in Ann Arbor. Prior to joining St. Luke's Cataract &amp Laser Insititute, Dr Scherer practiced at Florida and also at UPMC eye care center of Pittsburg, PA where he was a clinical assistant professor.

Dr Orlick is the founding partner of the practice. Born and raised in St Petersburg, Dr. Orlick has been proud to serve his community since 1991. After achieving the highest honors at the University of South Florida studying Natural sciences, Dr. Orlick completed his medical studies at the Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Following an internship in internal medicine at the University of Miami, he completed his Ophthalmology training at Tulane University in New Orleans. His interest in diseases of the retina led him to accept fellowship training under Dr. David Meyers at the Vitreoretinal Foundation, Memphis, Tennessee. After a number of years away from home, Dr Orlick returned to St. Petersburg to begin his career as a vitreoretinal specialist and surgeon. His private practice obligations have been balanced by one of his main clinical interests: teaching. For the past twenty years, he has continued volunteering his time in the eye clinic of James A. Haley VA hospital, supervising in the care of veterans while teaching ophthalmology residents. Dr Orlick has vast experience in treating a variety of retinal diseases including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular pucker and holes, retinal vein occlusions, and uveitis.
