Care Philosophy: Kurt Duncan, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon who specializes in management of various conditions that affect the neck and low back. Diagnostic tools such as X-rays and advanced imaging (MRI, CT scan), EMG, and diagnostic/therapeutic injections are sometimes used to help make a diagnosis. In many cases some of these studies have already been done before your first appointment. Once a diagnosis is made, Dr. Duncan believes that educating his patients about their condition and what outcomes they should expect is paramount. Except in urgent situations, non-surgical treatments usually precedes surgical treatment. If surgery is indicated, Dr. Duncan discusses available surgical options with his patients so that they can make an informed decision about their course of treatment. He believes that this type of patient-doctor relationship allows each unique patient to come to a decision that best matches their goals of treatment and best fits their overall health status.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Yamaguchi approaches pain management in a comprehensive manner and strives to help customers improve their function and decrease their pain. He feels that each customer is an individual and they need to be provided with options that address the different aspects of their pain. Among treatment options, Dr. Yamaguchi offers physical therapy, medication management, injection therapy, pain psychology (biofeedback and relaxation) and acupuncture.

Care Philosophy: I am a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician who specializes in pain management. I treat a variety of both acute and chronic conditions including: back and neck pain, musculoskeletal pain, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, sports injuries, neuromuscular pain, cancer pain, chronic abdominal and pelvic pain, fibromyalgia, chronic pain syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, neuropathic pain, and headache. I believe in treating patients from a multidisciplinary approach focusing on both medical management and rehabilitation to help people improve their overall daily function. I enjoy working with a team of healthcare providers including rehabilitation therapists and health psychologists. I perform minimally invasive spinal injections, spinal cord stimulators, peripheral joint and trigger point injections, acupuncture, botulinum toxin injections, and osteopathic manipulative therapy. Prior to medical school, I practiced as a licensed physical therapist treating both musculoskeletal and chronic pain conditions. I continue to stay active in the community working with athletes especially endurance athletes in the cross-country ski community.
