Biography: Paul D. Kim, M.D. graduated with honors as a College Scholar from Cornell University. After college, he was a Ph.D. candidate at Harvard University before deciding to pursue a career in medicine. He then completed medical school at Columbia University's College of Physicians & Surgeons and then his orthopedic surgery residency training at The New York Orthopedic Hospital at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center where he served as a chief resident. Subsequently, he completed his spine fellowship at The Spine Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Saint John's Health Center in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Paul Kim has a strong interest in research and has authored multiple book chapters and peer-reviewed scientific articles. He has presented many presentations in addition to being awarded research grants from the N.I.H. and the National Science Foundation. Treating complex disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, Dr. Kim has an interest in minimally-invasive spine surgery, motion-sparing technology/artificial disc replacement, and use of computer-assisted navigation in appropriate patients. Biography: Dr. Jeswani specializes in the surgical management of diseases affecting the brain, skull base, spinal cord, spinal column, and peripheral nerves. He graduated with University Honors from the University of Michigan with a dual degree in computer science and molecular biology. He then pursued graduate work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his research focus involved machine learning algorithms and their application to biomedical engineering problems.He then attended Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan where he graduated in the top ten percent of his class and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha National medical Honor Society. He was also awarded the Charles and Ann Pofreika Award for his academic achievement during medical school. Biography: Dr. K.C. Owsley is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. He has a particular interest in arthroscopy and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle. A native of Escondido, California, Dr. Owsley graduated from San Pasqual High School and went on to receive dual degrees in Philosophy and Zoology from Brigham Young University. He received his Medical Doctorate with honors from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York and remained in New York for his residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Upon graduating from residency, Dr. Owsley completed a sports medicine fellowship at the prestigious Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. Biography: Dr. Sahagian specializes in diagnosing and treating neuromuscular disorders such as Myasthenia Gravis, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Neuropathy, Myopathy and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. He is an expert in performing Electromyography/Nerve Conduction (EMG) studies and skin biopsies for nerve fiber analysis. Prior to practicing in San Diego, Dr. Nielsen completed her medical internship and residency training in neurology at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. Subsequently, she was conducting extensive research at Marion Merrel Dow Laboratory of Viral Pathogenesis, University of Kansas Medical Center and the Department of Tumor Virology, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Mass. Dr. Wang completed her Internship and Neurology Residency training at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia where she was Chief Resident. She continued with fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at Hahnemann University Hospital, Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia and Epilepsy Fellowship at University of California at San Diego. Board certified in American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology and American Board of Eletrodiagnositic Medicine, Dr. Wang was the recipient of many academic honors and awards. She has presented at national conferences and has been a contributor to medical publications. Dr. Wang has a special interest in EEG, EMG, evoked potentials and treating a variety of epilepsy patients, including pre-surgical evaluation, intracranial epilepsy monitoring, inpatient long term EEG monitoring, status epilepticus and refractory epilepsy.
