I encourage my patients to have some measure of control in their treatments. It is vital for each patient to understand the underlying processes, what can be done about their specific pain situation, and what they can expect from medications, therapies, interventions, and the latest technology available to minimize their painful condition(s). In addition, I want to ensure that the patient understands the realistic expectations of, and any risks associated with, their specific treatment.
