Biography: Dr. Young relocated to Denver in 2005 after completing a two-year surgical oncology fellowship at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, California. His prior education and training was via general surgery residency at Michigan State University/Grand Rapids, a medical degree at the University of North Dakota, and an undergraduate BA at Concordia College in Moorehead, Minnesota.Dr. Youngs interests include all areas of surgical oncology with emphasis on esophageal, hepatobiliary, gastro-intestinal, melanoma, and sarcomatous disease. He has written, published,and presented nationally and internationally on the surgical treatment of various oncologic diseases. He has conducted basic science research in the field of oncology. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).

Biography: Dr. Baer is a native of Colorado. He attended Cherry Creek High School and graduated at the top of his class. He went on to attend Harvard University and received his degree in Biology, with honors. While at Harvard, he was awarded the Harvard Scholarship for three consecutive years while maintaining a job and being a four-year varsity athlete. He graduated with honors from the University of Colorado Health Science Center. Dr. Baer completed his surgery residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. While completing this 5 year program, he was also a flight physician for MedFlight, a helicopter rescue/transport service. Following his residency program, he completed a fellowship at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, in Gloucester, England. Upon completion of this program, Dr. Baer returned home and has been practicing general surgery in South Denver since 1992. Dr. Baer's professional interests include, gastrointestinal surgery, cancer surgery, breast surgery, hernia surgery, and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He has special interests in endocrine surgery including minimally invasive thyroid and parathyroid surgery as well as laparoscopic adrenalectomy. Dr. Baer was the Porter Adventist Hospital Chairman of the Surgery Department for 5 years and President-elect for 3 years. He is finishing up his 3 year service as President.Dr. Baer is married with two teenage daughters. He enjoys all outdoor activities particularly running and snow-shoeing. Without a doubt, his greatest enjoyment is attending his daughter's various sporting activities.

Biography: Dr. Kurian joined SurgOne in 2013 and specializes in minimally invasive gastrointestinal and hernia surgery. He has a special interest in disorders of the esophagus and stomach. He is the founder of Denver Esophageal and Stomach Center. He uses both flexible endoscopy (flexible camera through the mouth) and laparoscopy (camera through small incisions on the abdomen) in the management of these diseases. Dr. Kurian completed his medical schooling in Bangalore Medical College, India in 2001. After this he completed a general surgery residency in the United Kingdom, where he is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He moved to Philadelphia, USA to continue his general surgery training in Abington Memorial Hospital. He graduated from his training program in 2011. He has completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery of the esophagus and stomach and advanced flexible endoscopy.He is interested in the incisionless endoscopic management of surgical disorders. His research interests are in benign esophageal motility disorders, gastroesophageal reflux and esophageal cancer. He has written extensively on POEM, which is a new incisionless surgical endoscopic procedure for patients with swallowing problems and gastroesophageal reflux disease. He is also involved in research directed towards improvements in surgical education of minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery.
