Biography: Dr. Natalie Chilaka is an orthopaedic trauma surgeon who specializes in fracture care and osteoporosis treatment. Fractures are commonly called broken bones.? Dr. Chilaka treats a wide spectrum of traumatic orthopaedic conditions, including: Upper extremity fractures (shoulder, upper arm, elbow, forearm and wrist fractures) Lower extremity fractures (hip, thigh, knee, lower leg, ankle and foot fractures) Intra-articular and peri-articular fractures (complex fractures that involve a joint) Pelvis fractures Nonunions and malunions (when a broken bone does not heal or heals in a poor position) Tendon ruptures (including quadriceps, patella, Achilles and triceps tendon ruptures) Dr. Chilaka also runs the UM BWMC Osteoporosis Clinic. Osteoporosis is a disease where the bones become brittle and weak, which makes it easier for them to break. The Osteoporosis Clinic offers tailored bone health care for people 49 years of age and older who have suffered a broken bone, and people of any age with known osteoporosis or at increased risk for developing osteoporosis. Dr. Chilaka earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell University and her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College. She completed her residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Harvard Combined Program in Boston, MA. Dr. Chilaka then completed a fellowship in orthopaedic trauma at Denver Health & Hospital Authority. Following training, Dr. Chilaka worked for several years at Yale New Haven Hospital, a busy level 1 trauma center in Connecticut. She joined the medical staff of UM BWMC in 2017. She started the UM BWMC Osteoporosis Clinic in 2019.

Biography: Dr. Gallagher is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in trauma, reconstruction, joint replacement and sports injuries around the foot and ankle. He received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and attended Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine in Philadelphia for his medical education. He completed his residency and fellowship training at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland during which time he also spent time at Johns Hopkins Hospital and University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Dr. Gallagher manages a broad scope of conditions of the foot and ankle, including both primary and revision ankle replacement, as well as all forms of trauma such as tibial pilon, ankle, calcaneal, talus fractures and Achilles tendon injuries.He is a member of the American Academy of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (AOFAS) where he was chosen to serve on the Research Committee. Through this position, he remains on the cutting edge of foot and ankle research across the country. He has presented his research at national conferences and has published book chapters and scientific articles in journals including The American Journal of Sports Medicine.Dr. Gallagher utilizes cutting edge techniques including patient-specific-instrumentation for ankle arthroplasty, which uses a CT scan and a personalized plan to ensure a more reliable and efficient replacement. Additionally, he performs a minimally invasive approach to multiple conditions including Achilles injuries, bunion correction and hindfoot reconstruction.Dr. Gallagher's priority is to find strategies that keep his patients on their feet. He believes that one of the most important determinants of health is the ability to stay active. Often, that requires a nuanced view of the condition and the patient's goals in order to come up with a plan together to optimize the outcome.Originally from Philadelphia, Dr. Gallagher was a former club rugby and high school football player. He now enjoys cooking and spending time outdoors with his family.
