Biography: Dr. Gary Schmidt is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon specializing in post-traumatic reconstruction of the foot and ankle, foot and ankle deformity in adults and athletic injuries. He also treats patients with common foot problems, including bunions and heel pain. Dr. Schmidt has more than three decades of clinical experience and has been active in teaching and research with publication in various medical journals. Dr. Schmidt also gained valuable sports medicine experience while working with the Montreal Canadiens, Montreal Expos as well as serving as a team physician for the McGill hockey team. Dr. Schmidt performed a total ankle replacement on me one year ago. It has truly changed my life. After 15 years of limping in pain, with little results from another doctor, I found Dr. Schmidt. Dr. Schmidt is committed to providing the highest quality surgical care that reduces risk of complications, while minimizing pain and recovery time. Often using minimally invasive and arthroscopic technology and techniques, many of Dr. Schmidt's patients benefit from reduced blood loss, fewer complications, decreased pain, shorter recovery times and minimal scarring. Since the replacement of my ankle with the latest in technology, I can already walk with grace and confidence. Pain is minimal, and I'm told as I complete my PT, it will all get even better. After earning his medical degree from the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine in Saskatoon, Canada, Dr. Schmidt completed an internship and an orthopedic residency at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. He then furthered his training with a foot and ankle fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. After practicing for more than 20 years in Missouri, Dr. Schmidt relocated to Colorado where he provides advanced care for conditions of the foot and ankle to patients in the Denver metro area. Dr. Syre considers age, lifestyle, activity level, symptoms, pain and the patient's personal preference for treatment to ensure care is tailored to the individual's specific needs. Dr. Syre strongly feels that better outcomes happen when he knows and understands the unique individual.

Biography: Simon C. Oh, M.D. graduated from the undergraduate business program at Carnegie Mellon University in 1994 and worked in both the public and private sectors before pursuing a career in medicine. He attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine and graduated in 2004. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine, residency in Neurology, and fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. During his training at the University of Wisconsin, he served as the Chief Resident and was heavily involved in medical student and resident education. He was voted the Most Outstanding Neurosciences Resident by the UW medical school class of 2007. Before coming to Colorado, he was the neuromuscular specialist at the Marshfield Clinic where he was also involved in medical student and resident education. Dr. Oh is board certified in Neurology. He sees patients with a variety of neurological disorders, but has special interests in neuromuscular disorders, including peripheral neuropathies, myopathies, neuromuscular junction transmission defects, and motor neuron disease. Dr. Oh lectures across the country on various topics, including chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP). He also has fellowship training in electrodiagnostic procedures, such as EMG/nerve conduction studies. Dr. Oh remains an independent practitioner and practices out of Aurora, CO. Through dedication to patient care and a relentless focus on finding underlying causes of ailments, Dr. Oh has developed one of the busiest practices in Colorado with patients coming from all over the state. He also draws patients from Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, Kansas, New Mexico, Arizona, Georgia, and Florida.

Care Philosophy: Dr. York understands that no two patients are the same, which is why he firmly believes in a team mentality when it comes to a patient's spine condition. "Your specific goals and expectations are important and I believe that nonsurgical options in the treatment of neck or back pain are important and effective. However, when it comes to surgery, I enjoy discussing the surgical options including traditional and minimally invasive methods depending on individualized factors. My desire is for my patients to be actively involved in their spine health and to work closely in achieving their goals."
