During his time at WUSM, he was promoted to Professor of Medicine and served as the Director of Interventional Endoscopy at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. There, he trained several of his future WUSM colleagues along with multiple other gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy trainees, and he also participated in clinical and endoscopic outcomes research.
