Biography: Daniel Felbaum, MD, is an endovascular neurosurgeon and member of the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the North American Skull Base Society (NASBS), and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS). Dr. Felbaum is specialty trained and highly experienced in cerebrovascular, neuroendovascular, and general neurosurgery using both minimally invasive (percutaneous) methods and traditionally invasive operations for neurovascular diseases. As part of a team of neurosurgeons at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown University Hospital, he is dedicated to creating individualized treatment plans for each patient that are delivered with collaborative care. He is passionate about providing stroke management and treatment as well as neuroendovascular surgery options to patients in the Washington, DC, region. Dr. Felbaum and his team are implementing an interventional treatment for strokes, called mechanical thrombolysis, focused on improving outcomes for stroke patients. Dr. Felbaum received his medical degree from Marshall University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then joined Georgetown University Hospital for a six-year residency in neurological surgery before completing specialty fellowship training in combined open cerebrovascular with endovascular neurosurgery and neurocritical care at the Global Neurosciences Institute in Philadelphia. He has presented nationally on numerous occasions and has been published in several peer-review publications and book chapters on cerebrovascular neurosurgery and trauma. Dr. Felbaum is fluent in Tagalog (the official language of the Philippines).Philosophy of CareMy philosophy of care is best defined as trying to embody the motto cura personalis, or care of the whole person. Biography: Dr. Aaron Gebrelul is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement of the hip and knee. He has particular expertise in robotic-assisted surgery as well as minimally-invasive techniqueswhich allow for more personalized care and rapid recovery. After graduating magna cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis, Dr. Gebrelul began his medical training at Emory University in Atlanta. He then excelled as an Orthopaedic Surgery resident physician at the University of TexasSouthwestern in Dallas, where he was selected to serve as Chief Resident. During his final year, he received both the G. Truett James and Vert Mooney awards, which are given annually to the most academically accomplished resident. Dr. Gebrelul then moved on to complete his fellowship training at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania, where he learned alongside internationally recognized leaders in the field of hip and knee replacements.During his career, Dr. Gebrelul has been active in research and has published numerous studies, abstracts, and book chapters addressing various aspects of hip and knee replacements. He has had his work presented at national meetings, and he is a fellow member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS).Dr. Gebrelul's surgical focus includes direct anterior (DA) total hip replacements, minimally-invasive partial and total knee replacements, fracture care, and complex revision surgeries. Dr. Gebrelul utilizes cutting edge technology, such as robotic assistance, computer navigation, and intraoperative X-ray to maximize accuracy and precision in the operating room.Dr. Gebrelul is family-oriented and spends his free time barbequing, playing with his niece and nephew, and watching LSU football with his fiance, Eden.The core tenet of my practice is helping patients return to a pain-free, active lifestyle. My team spends extra time communicating and getting to know all of our patients so that we can individualize a treatment plan that suits their needs. My goal is to try to avoid surgery if possible, but offer it when necessary.
