Terrible doctor
I only saw Dr. Jean 1 time and that was 1 time too many. I'm just glad he showed his true colors before it got to the point of having surgery. He jumped to conclusions before he had all of the test results, in fact the whole Neurology team I had after being admitted to Cedar Crest was never on the same page as far as how serious my aneurysm is. Dr Jean also has a terrible 'bedside manner' and my wife and I both left his office feeling disrespected and feeling like my visit and my stay at Cedar Crest was just a waste of time and money. I don't know where I'm going from here but I do know that even though Cedar Crest may have been a great hospital at one time doctors like this show they're scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to providers now so those days are over.

Perhaps a skilled Surgeon, but a terrible Doctor!
Agreed on a conservative partial removal acoustic neuroma surgery to be minimally invasive regarding facial nerves. Instead Dr. Jean attempted removal of mostly all the tumor, not just the most important portion which was easily removed per his surgery report with likely minimal or no trauma to facial nerves. After surgery, Dr. Jean and his Neurologist colleagues could not or would not identify physical therapy and other sources for damage control or repair. My primary care physician and eventually a Penn Medicine Neurologist did provide appropriate sources at Kessler and Wills Eye for TENS physical therapy and eye lid surgery to repair some of the damage caused by Dr. Jean's disregard for the agreed upon conservative approach.

We were expecting nothing & got just that
This was a long overdue "follow up" from my husband's shunt removal from Dr. Jean back in July. He never set one up then. The only reason we were there today was because my husband had a recent MRA which was already read. Dr. Jean was supposed to give us the "good treatment" & give us a network & neurologist so we didn't have to keep going to the ER. Instead, he came in the room, no greeting to either of us, he didn't even SIT! He told Dan that "some Drs put shunts in when they aren't necessary & you will definitely not need one. By the 1 year mark after the aneurysm burst, you will be completely out of the woods." He should know that the shunt was placed FOR MEDICAL REASONING & you cannot make definitive blanket statements like he did. Each person's recovery is different & hydrocephalus can return. He was practically out of the door when I asked for a Neurologist referral. He dismissed it even after I described Dan's most recent ER stay. He told us to just "call our office."

Dr. Jean has no bedside manner. I had an initial appointment with him for a suspicious lesion on an MRI that was suspected to be a low grade glioma. He barely acknowledged me upon entering the room. I was told by him he would not be able to remove the entire tumor and if he did I would have lasting deficits. Based on this meeting, I sought a second opinion at another reputable hospital and my neurosurgeon completed a craniotomy removing all of the tumor which no lasting effects.

He provided our family with confident, steady and excellent surgical services. He saved our daughter's life after she was diagnosed with a colloid cyst in her brain. We love him and are grateful and thankful.

I just wanted to pass along that I had my Trans ? Lab method of surgery with Doctor Kim/Jean this last 12/8. It took six hours which Dr. Jean indicated as being a smooth operation. Since I decided on the trans lab approach I am SSD on my left. I really don?t seem to tell much of a difference since my hearing was at 50% on that side anyway. As far as I can tell I have zero facial paralysis. Dr, Jean is outstanding and I am gratefull for his expertise.
