For some patients, surgery may not be the best option or an option at all, and Dr. Hughes believes knowing when not to operate is just as important as knowing when to operate. When surgery is an option, surgical indications, goals, risks and benefits should be clear, as well as if there is a low, intermediate, or high probability that an operation will improve a patient's problem and fulfill his or her expectations.

Care Philosophy: My responsibility to my patients is to communicate effectively and thoroughly the diagnosis and subsequent options for treatment. I'm privileged to be able to gain a persons' trust to treat their illness and assist them in improving their quality of life. With my extensive experience and education, I am able to perform various forms of treatment focusing on nonsurgical methods.

Biography: Dr. Ryan Carr is a board-certified and fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in disorders of the shoulder, hip, and knee. Procedures he performs includes joint replacement, advanced arthroscopic reconstruction surgery, and fracture management. Dr. Carr received his medical degree from Chicago Medical School and completed his surgical residency in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at University of Illinois. Prior to practicing in Denver, he was team physician for both professional and high school sports teams. In 2014, Dr. Carr was awarded the Vernon L. Nickel Research Award from the Orthopedic Research Association. When he is not in the office he enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and spending time with his wife and great dane.

Care Philosophy: My father, who was an ophthalmologist in Texas, taught me at an early age to always treat others better than yourself and always do the right thing regardless of situation, payer or problem. It was instilled in me to be the best and cutting edge. I bring that to my practiceno matter the obstacles, my patients and I work together to create the best treatment plans that help get them back to the activities they love.
