Care Philosophy: As an athlete growing up, Dr. Azzam saw firsthand the impact that orthopedic surgeons have on improving their patients' quality of life. He has always loved to compete, and see orthopedics as a means to help patients triumph over injury.

Biography: Dr. Van den Berghe is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and is Fellowship Trained in Sports Medicine with a special interest in shoulder issues. He believes in providing treatment plans that are patient specific in order to best facilitate healing. He was previously the team physician for the San Diego Padres.

Care Philosophy: My passion is hip and knee replacement surgery to allow patients to return to a good quality of life. I perform partial knee replacements, total knee replacements and hip replacement surgery with minimally invasive techniques including the minimally invasive (ASI-anterior supine intramuscular) direct anterior approach to the hip.

I am passionate about providing the same high level of care that I received as a patient/athlete during my high school and collegiate career. My primary objective as a clinician is to understand the desires of each patient regarding their respective injury/condition and hope for return to function, and to employ what I have learned to best achieve that goal.
