I've had two surgeries with Dr. Mullen and had great results both times. He's very knowledgeable and thorough, and takes time to explain everything well. I'd definitely recommend him!

Amazing!!
I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Mullen. My son’s experience during his visits was nothing short of amazing. From the very beginning, the timing was perfect, and we didn’t feel rushed at all. Dr. Mullen took the time to thoroughly assess his injury and explained everything with such clarity and depth. It was evident that his knowledge and expertise were top-notch, and it made a world of difference in how we understood the condition and the steps for recovery. I truly appreciate the care and professionalism shown and feel confident moving forward with the treatment plan. Thank you for making what could have been a stressful experience so smooth and reassuring!

Great doctor, great guy
I could not have been happier with Dr. Mullen and his team. I tore my ACL and my meniscus, and from surgery to follow up, everything was great. He’s also a cool guy to chat with!

Awesome!
Dr. Mullen is incredible! I had shoulder surgery from him that was previously worked on and didn’t end up working out. I truly thought that my life was just going to include pain in that shoulder but Dr. Mullen changed that. I cannot express my gratitude enough. This surgery changed my life and I am forever grateful.

Great job on a hip dislocation
Dr. Mullins did a great job repairing damage from a dislocation of my right hip that was done during a sports accident. Repaired labrum, Cartilage and removed bone chip. I've made a full recovery and cannot think he and his team enough. He set clear expectations and referred me to a great physical therapist, would highly recommend him for any kind of sports injuries.

I have seen several doctors concerning a groin pain that all have redirected to hip joint issues, although that did not seem consistent with what I'm experiencing. Dr. Mullen is the first and only doctor to listen to what I said, evaluate based on my experience, and agreed that addressing the hip joint (with replacement) would not fix what is going on. It is refreshing to be heard by a doctor: medicine overall would be hugely more successful if doctors listened to patients more, as Dr. Mullens has done.

Excellent care following labral repair surgery!
I had a great experience working with Dr. Mullen and Stephen Payne! Had a successful labral repair in my hip and now I’m back to lifting, running, etc. I couldn’t be happier with my improved quality of life following surgery. As a healthcare provider myself (physical therapist), I would have no hesitation referring my patients to Dr. Mullen and his staff.

Success! 2 procedures 1 surgery
I have TGCT (a type of tumor) and had a Laberal tear in my right hip that was caused by the tumor. I already had the tumor removed once somewhere else, and Dr. Mullen did it the second time. They told me I would probably have to have 2 separate surgeries for both issues, but he found a way to do it in 1 surgery! My pain is reduced to almost nothing since then! He was able to clean out the tumor so well that it did not come back in 3 months, which is what it did before. He is very professional and is willing to work hard to get the patient what they need even if it’s abnormal like 2 things in a single procedure.

Right hip tendon lengthening
Im a 65 year old male. I had my right hip replaced by another doctor 4 years prior , but a few years later had alot of groin pain, when walking, sleeping, going up stairs, getting into my car, ect. .It felt like a knife was being stuck in my groin it hurt so bad. I was referred to Dr.Mullen by the doctor who did my hip replacement. Dr. Mullen did a procedure to lengthen a tendon in my right hip. The results were unbelievable, no more pain, starting later that same day after my procedure. I had no weakness or pain after the procedure, going up stairs, walking, getting in my car ect... I wish I would have the procedure years before. The results were more than I expected, if you have a similar issue, don't hesitate seeing Dr. Mullen.

Could not of had a better surgeon!
Dr. Mullen is such a great surgeon and a very kind person. He truly cares about his patients. I had seen several other doctors the previous 4 years and still having pain in my hip. Dr. Mullen looked at all my charts and seemed to know exactly what to do. The surgery he performed on me was the right thing to do. I am now pain free and able to go about my daily activities and long walks. Thank you Dr. Mullen and thank you to all your team!!!!!

DISAPPOINTING!!!!
My appt time was changed within a few hours of my appointment thru my chart, i did not confirm the change to an earlier time because I did not know about the change. When I arrived, i was told that I was late, and would not be seen. I was on time for my original time which was 11:50am, They changed my time to 11:20! The lady at the desk was trying to be kind but I explained if I did not confirm the earlier time, then my original time should stay. I was then directed to the nurse practitioner, who I did not like. He did not listen to my issue, nor did he look at my MR. I have a tendon tear in my hip , confirmed by MR imaging. He was talking about hip replacement. This is where I stopped him. I am a CT,MR Technologist with 46 years experience, and I know what I am looking at. I was told I need physical therapy for 6-8 wks prior to surgery. BIG PROBLEM, therapy can’t make time for you for 6-10 weeks. What happened to the great KU!!! Oh, and I never saw Dr Mullen. RUDE APPOINTMENT

You ARE important !!
1st THANK YOU. After11 months of fighting with another hospital & doctors, I was referred to KU & chose Dr. Mullen 2 .5 yrs ago.I didn’t know what to expect. After the first time I walked in his office, I knew I was in the Right Place Dr Mullen & his staff made me feel like I was important. I mattered, healing mattered. I had my first rotator cuff surgery May 19 2022. 11 months later I injured it again. Had another surgery same shoulder four months later I had a car wreck, break the head off my humerus same arm, what a deal. they took care of me in the very best way I walked in the office, making me feel as no question was a stupid question, my concerns were important, appointments never rushed. I got released yesterday… again. Dr. Mullen & his staff KU. They are top-notch they take care of you as a person- not like another patient. They really care. They know your name, you’re circumstance. I hope I never BUT if I do that’s where I’ll go. Cause YOU ARE IMPORTANT to them.
