Care Philosophy: Dr Andre Beer Furlan is a skull base and endovascular neurosurgeon at Moffitt Cancer Center and Assistant Professor of Oncologic Sciences at the University of South Florida. Dr Beer Furlan earned his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Svo Paulo (FMUSP), a top ranked university in Latin America. He completed the neurosurgery residency at the same institution and practiced as a neurosurgeon and skull base surgeon in Sao Paulo, Brazil before moving to the United States.

Care Philosophy: Dr Walker received her MD from University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She completed an Internal Medicine Residency and a Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the University of Rochester, New York. She joins us from The Ohio State University, where she served as a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology. Dr Walker's clinical interests are in the care of patients with myeloid malignancies, specifically acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes. She is particularly interested in identifying ways to deliver care that maximizes resource utilization and achieves superior patient satisfaction.

Care Philosophy: Dr Sameh Gaballa is an AssociateMember in the Moffitt Cancer Center Department of Malignant Hematology. Dr Gaballa earned his MD from Aims Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. He completed an Internal Medicine Residency and a Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then completed a Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr Gaballa previously practiced in the Thomas Jefferson University, Division of Hematologic Malignancies and Blood and Marrow Transplantation.

Care Philosophy: Dr Javier F Torres-Roca is a Senior Member in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. He also serves as Professor of Oncologic Sciences in the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. A graduate of the University of Puerto Rico Medical School, he completed research fellowships in immunology and genetics at the Institut Pasteur in Paris and Stanford University in California. He subsequently trained in radiation oncology at the University of California, Irvine. Dr Torres-Roca's research interests include the development of genomic strategies to personalize radiation therapy for individual patients. His clinical interest is in genitourinary malignancies.

Care Philosophy: Dr Sophie Dessureault is a surgical oncologist in the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. She is a professor of oncology and surgery at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Dr Dessureault graduated with distinction from Dalhousie University School of Medicine in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After medical school, she pursued additional training at the University of Toronto where she completed both a surgical residency and a PhD in the Surgical Scientist Program. Dr Dessureault came to Moffitt Cancer Center in 1999 for a fellowship in Surgical Oncology.

Care Philosophy: Dr Rachid Baz is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist who came to Moffitt in 2008 from Cleveland Clinic. Currently, Dr Baz is the Myeloma Section Head in the Department of Malignant Hematology at Moffitt Cancer Center and co-Director of the Pentecost Family Myeloma Research Center. He has developed a special expertise in managing patients with plasma cell disorders such as multiple myeloma, monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS), plasmacytoma, primary systematic amyloidosis, and Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia (WM). Among other awards, he was the recipient of the Junior Clinical Science Award at Moffitt, and the University of South Florida Outstanding Resident Teaching Award.

Care Philosophy: Dr David Joyce is an Assistant Member in the Sarcoma Department. Dr Joyce earned his MD degree from Case Western Reserve University, Case School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed an Orthopaedic Residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio and an Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee. He most recently completed a Musculoskeletal Oncology Fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center.

Care Philosophy: Dr Robert Wenham is a gynecologic oncologist and Chair of the Gynecologic Oncology Program at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr Wenham has a strong interest in research and is a principal investigator for numerous clinical trials to improve cancer care for women. His research activities include the use of novel drugs for the treatment of gynecologic cancers. He has received the Molly Cade Ovarian Cancer Research Award from the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation. Dr Wenham enjoys the challenge of helping women with complex issues and the opportunity to offer them cutting-edge therapies, from the latest chemotherapy approaches to biologically targeted therapies, minimally invasive surgery, and clinical trials.

Care Philosophy: Dr Robinson, a native of Kansas, received his undergraduate B.A. degree in anthropology at the University of Kansas and his medical degree from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his internship and residency in general and cardiothoracic surgery at the Duke University Medical Center. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in cardiac research and clinical cardiac surgery at the St. Thomas' Hospital in London. He also served as a Flight Surgeon at the rank of Major, USAF in Thailand during the Vietnam War.

Care Philosophy: Dr Lazarides received his MD degree from Duke University Medical School. He completed an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Duke University Medical Center, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr Lazarides most recently completed an Orthopaedic Oncology Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital-University of Toronto, Division of Orthopaedic Surgery, in Toronto, Canada. Dr Lazarides specializes in treating pediatric and adult patients with benign or malignant bone or soft tissue tumors of the musculoskeletal system. His focus is the treatment of sarcomas as well as benign tumors and metastatic bone disease.

Care Philosophy: Dr Andrew Sinnamon is a Surgical Oncologist within the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. He completed both medical school and General Surgery residency training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. During residency he completed a research fellowship studying outcomes for surgical oncology patients. He also obtained a Masters in Clinical Epidemiology during this time. Dr Sinnamon then completed further fellowship training in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Moffitt, and has since joined the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology. Dr Sinnamon's clinical interests include caring for patients with diseases of the pancreas, stomach, and esophagus.

Care Philosophy: Dr Christine Laronga is a surgical oncologist specializing in breast cancer in the Comprehensive Breast Program at the Center for Women's Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Dr Laronga enjoys making a difference in women's lives through her clinical practice and research. She treats women with all levels of breast disease, from benign cysts to metastatic breast cancer. Dr Laronga is a principal investigator for several ground-breaking procedures, including nipple and areola skin-sparing efforts after mastectomy and liposuction for arm lymphedema resulting from breast cancer treatment. She also conducts basic research in proteomics, the study of protein markers in tissue and blood.

Care Philosophy: Dr Kirtane is an Assistant Member in the Department of Head and Neck-Endocrine Oncology and Medical Director for Solid Tumor Cellular Therapy. Dr Kirtane received his MD degree from The University of Florida College of Medicine. He completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Duke University Medical Center. Dr Kirtane completed a Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the University of Washington and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Oncology at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. His clinical focus is patients with head and neck-endocrine cancers. He works on the development of innovative cellular therapies for solid tumor cancers and is focused on increasing representation of underrepresented groups to clinical trials.

Care Philosophy: Dr Kuykendall is an Assistant Member at Moffitt Cancer Center in the Department of Malignant Hematology. He earned his MD from University of Florida College of Medicine and completed an Internal Medicine residency at the University of South Florida and a subsequent Hematology and Medical Oncology fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center/University of South Florida. He primarily focuses his clinical and research efforts on myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), MDS/MPN overlap syndromes and systemic mastocytosis (SM) where he is dedicated to developing novel, disease-modifying therapies for these rare diseases.

Care Philosophy: Dr Binitie earned his MD degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He completed an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of South Florida. In 2012, he completed a Pediatric Orthopedic Fellowship at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and then a Musculoskeletal Oncology Fellowship at the University of South Florida at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr Binitie's clinical interests include bone and soft tissue sarcomas, limb preserving surgeries and sarcomas in all patients, with a focus in pediatric and young adults. His research interests include limb preservation after oncologic resection, expandable pediatric limb reconstruction, and adolescent and young adult sarcomas.

Care Philosophy: Dr Fernandez received his MD degree in 2005 from Mount Sinai School of Medicine of New York University and PhD degree in 2004 from the University of South Florida/National Institutes of Health Graduate Partnerships Program. During his time at the National Institutes of Health, he spent two years as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Research Scholar working in the Laboratory of Chemical Physics of the NIDDK where his research focused on vibrational spectroscopic imaging modalities applied to prostate cancer. Dr Fernandez completed an Internal Medicine Residency at the California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco, CA.

Care Philosophy: Dr Hoffman is a gynecologic oncologist and Vice Chair for the Gynecologic Oncology Program at Moffitt Cancer Center. He is a world-renowned expert in the surgical management of gynecologic cancers and other complex gynecologic disorders. He has over 30 years of surgical experience, has published extensively on all aspects of female cancer surgery, and has lectured around the world on these subjects. Dr Hoffman's expertise includes laparoscopic, robotic, open (traditional), and vaginal surgery. After completing his gynecologic oncology fellowship at the University of South Florida, Dr Hoffman stayed as a full-time faculty member until October 2015.

Care Philosophy: Dr Bijal Shah is an Associate Member in the Department of Malignant Hematology. Dr Shah's primary clinical interests are in Non-Hodgkin Lymphomas (particularly mantle cell lymphoma) and Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. As an internist and pediatrician, Dr Shah also has a special interest in adolescent and young adult malignant hematology.
