Biography: Kelly Axsom, MD is a cardiologist, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with advanced heart failure including those requiring left ventricular assist device or cardiac transplantation. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, General Cardiology, Echocardiography, and Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation. Dr. Axsom received her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical Center where she was also the Chief Medical Resident. She completed her Fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at NYU Medical Center where she served as Chief Fellow. She completed her advanced training in advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac assist devices and transplantation at Weill Cornell and Columbia University Medical Centers. Dr. Axsom is currently Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology, Center for Advanced Cardiac Care of the Columbia University Medical Center. Her clinical and research interests include the acute care and chronic management of patients with heart failure, comprising a combined goal of reducing hospitalizations and improving the transition of care from the in-patient to the out-patient setting. Dr. Axsom is leading the clinical initiative for the continuous hemodynamic monitoring of these patients at Columbia University Medical Center.

Biography: Mathew S. Maurer, MD - Dr. Maurer is a general internist and geriatric cardiologist with advanced training in heart failure and cardiac transplantation. He is the Arnold and Arlene Goldstein Professor of Cardiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons, where directs the Clinical Cardiovascular Research Laboratory for the Elderly (CCRLE). Dr. Maurer is a member of the Advanced Cardiac Care Center at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital Columbia Campus. He is the Director of the Cardiac Amyloidosis Program.He has published over 300 articles including peer reviewed manuscripts, reviews and book chapters. He was Chair of the American College of Cardiology's Geriatric Cardiology Member Section, which is the largest organization dedicated to advancing the care of older adults with cardiovascular disease. He was co-chair of the Steering Committee of the ATTR-ACT trial showing tafamidis was a safe and effective therapy for transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy. Throughout his career, he has promulgated an approach to older adults with cardiovascular disease that offers the best of both geriatric and cardiovascular medicine in which a comprehensive holistic approach to enhance functional capacity and quality of life is at the forefront of emerging techniques to address cardiovascular physiologic derangement that disproportionately afflict older adults.

Biography: Dr. Gabriel Sayer is the Associate Director of Advanced Heart Failure, Cardiac Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory support at NewYork-Presbyterian. In this role, Dr. Sayer provides leadership and oversight for the comprehensive heart failure services provided across NewYork-Presbyterian, including the campuses in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Westchester. Dr. Sayer attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by Internal Medicine residency at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He completed Cardiology fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center and his Advanced Heart Failure fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. Prior to joining NewYork-Presbyterian in 2019, Dr. Sayer worked at the University of Chicago for six years, where he was the Associate Director of the Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Cardiac Transplantation programs. In addition to his extensive clinical experience in all aspects of heart failure, Dr. Sayer has published nearly 100 peer-reviewed articles in the field of advanced heart failure. Biography: Dr. Noa Zemer Wassercug is a board-certified cardiologist with expertise in adult congenital heart disease. She is an assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and an assistant attending cardiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP). Dr. Zemer Wassercug's clinical expertise is focused on adult congenital heart echocardiography and pregnancy management in women with congenital heart disease. She is an attending physician at Columbia's Schneeweiss Adult Congenital Heart Center. Dr. Zemer Wassercug received her Doctor of Medicine from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. She completed a cardiology fellowship at Rabin Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in adult congenital heart disease at NYP/CUIMC. She sees patients in Washington Heights in Manhattan.

Biography: Michael B. Collins, MD is an Interventional Cardiologist at Columbia Interventional Cardiovascular Care, the Associate Director of the Cardiovascular Catheterization Lab at Columbia University Irving Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Professor of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Collins specializes in complex percutaneous coronary interventions. Dr. Collins received his medical degree in 1975 from Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut.

Biography: Giora Weisz, MD, is an Associate Professor in Clinical Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and serves as the Director of the cardiac Cath Lab at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. He graduated from the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel, and completed his residency in internal medicine and cardiology fellowship at the Carmel Medical Center in Haifa, Israel. Dr. Weisz finished his interventional cardiology training at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Weisz focuses on current and innovative technologies. His expertise includes novel robotic-enhanced coronary interventions, with a special emphasis on navigation and positioning technologies. He also has a keen interest in the management of incomplete revascularization, novel intravascular imaging, and strategies for preventing contrast-induced nephropathy.

Biography: Tamim Nazif, MD is the Director of Clinical Research for Columbia Interventional Cardiovascular Care,Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program, and an associate professor in medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Nazif specializes in interventional cardiology and the treatment of heart valve disease. Petit, MD, has particular expertise in minimally invasive techniques to treat valve disease and complex congenital heart disease. Recognized for his clinical innovations, development of specialty programs, and his research accomplishments, Dr. Petit believes that the field of pediatric cardiology advances through collaborative discovery. He has been an active clinician-scientist, working to determine the best treatments for patients with congenital heart disease. Dr. Petit founded and currently serves as President of the Congenital Cardiac Research Collaborative.

Biography: Jeffrey W. Moses, MD, is a renowned interventional cardiologist and Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Moses serves as the Director of Interventional Cardiovascular Therapeutics at Columbia Interventional Cardiovascular Care and the Director of Advanced Cardiac Interventions at St Francis Hospital and Heart Center in Roslyn, NY.With a track record of over 18,000 interventional procedures, Dr. Moses is an accomplished researcher. He has served as a lead investigator for numerous national and international clinical studies and authored over 600 publications, many focusing on the effectiveness and safety of coronary stent placement. Notably, his pivotal role in a 2002 clinical trial resulted in the first U.S. FDA approval of a drug-coated stent, now widely used in American interventional procedures.Dr. Moses contributed to the Executive Committee of the PARTNER trial, which introduced the first transcatheter aortic valve for clinical use in the U.S. A pioneer in various approaches, including minimally invasive surgery, angioplasty, gene therapy, and novel imaging technologies, he extends the application of interventional cardiovascular procedures. Biography: Dr. William Prabhu is an interventional cardiologist at Columbia. He graduated from SUNY Upstate medical school at Syracuse in 2009. He completed residency and a chief residency at UVM medical center from 2009-2012. He then completed general cardiology, interventional cardiology, structural heart and peripheral vascular fellowships at Brown University from 2013-2018. From 2018-2021 he practiced primarily in Rockland county performing the highest volume of cardiac catheterizations, PCIs, and TAVRs in the county during his time there. In 2022, he joined the faculty at Columbia's Interventional Cardiovascular Care program. Along with his busy clinical responsibilities, Dr. Prabhu participates in multiple randomized controlled trials as part of his academic work with CUIMC.Dr. Prabhu performs cardiac catheterizations, peripheral vascular, and structural heart procedures at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He is the Associate Director of the cardiac Cath lab at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. Dr. Prabhu takes pride in bringing modern cardiac interventional techniques and advanced treatments for coronary artery disease, structural heart disease, peripheral vascular disease and pulmonary embolism to Westchester County.
