Biography: Armando Alvarez, M.D., is a board-certified physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as pain management at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute. He is fluent in English and Spanish. Dr. Alvarez diagnoses and treats patients with acute and chronic pain, as well as musculoskeletal conditions. He uses a range of treatment modalities, including spinal and joint injections, stimulator trials and rehabilitation to help patients manage their pain and regain function. Prior to joining Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute, Dr. Alvarez completed his pain medicine fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Dr. Alvarez earned his masters degree in public health from the University of Miami and his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. As a student, he initiated the first Diversity Week at his school and achieved the Gold Humanism Award for exhibiting compassionate patient care and serving as a role model, mentor and leader in medicine. He then completed his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at University of Miamis Jackson Memorial Hospital. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Alvarez conducts research, including studies on the management and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and analyzing healthcare disparities in underserved populations. He is also a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia. Dedicated to helping others in their time of need, Dr. Alvarez partners with his patients to navigate complex medical issues. He understands the unique challenges of pain management and strives to help them get back to leading full lives. Whether he is assisting an athlete in returning to their sport or helping a mother lift her child, Dr. Alvarez encourages his patients to accomplish their personal goals. In his free time, Dr. Alvarez enjoys scuba diving, surfing, running marathons, playing softball and visiting the local ventanita for coffee.

Biography: Raul A. Rosario-Concepcion, M.D., is a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physician at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute, specializing in the musculoskeletal system with a focus on sports medicine. His professional interests include the diagnosis and management of chronic tendinopathy using advanced procedures such as platelet-rich plasma, ultrasonic tenotomy and debridement (TENEX) and tendon scraping. He also has advanced training in musculoskeletal ultrasound, which enhances both diagnostic applications and guided minimally invasive procedures.Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Rosario-Concepcion served as an assistant professor in the physical medicine and rehabilitation department and sports medicine division at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. He also served as a team physician for the University of North Floridas NCAA Division 1 athletic teams and the USA Basketball Junior National Teams.Dr. Rosario-Concepcion earned his medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in San Juan. He completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and a primary care sports medicine fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla. He is certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in physical medicine and rehabilitation and earned a Certificate of Added Qualifications in sports medicine. In addition to his extensive clinical expertise, Dr. Rosario-Concepcion has contributed significantly to the advancement of clinical research. He has published his work in prestigious medical journals and presented at prominent national and international scientific symposiums. He is also actively involved in teaching sports medicine ultrasound at multiple high-level conferences, where his advanced ultrasound skills distinguish him from others in the field.Dr. Rosario-Concepcion provides compassionate, evidence-based care that not only addresses the injury but also enhances the patients overall quality of life.
