Dr. Machado earned his medical degree with honors at Saba University School of Medicine in the Caribbean and undertook his residency training at the University of Florida/Shands Hospital in Gainesville, where he was named Chief Resident. He obtained his sub-specialty training at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where he completed his Oncology/Hematology fellowship and was named Chief Fellow.

After receiving his medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine, he completed his residency in general surgery, achieving the rank of Chief Resident.
