Biography: Dr. Maggio started Renewal Dermatology & MedSpa in the summer of 2012, having recently retired from a career in military medicine spanning three decades. He served as a faculty researcher and physician in the country's third largest dermatology residency training program for 15 of those years. He loves to teach and learn. Colonel Maggio is a combat veteran who has practiced dermatology all over the world but regards Virginia as his home, where he met his wife 25 years ago. They raised their five children in the Commonwealth. He enjoys running, hiking, swimming and gardening.Dr. Maggio specializes in the surgical treatment of skin cancer, as he is both fellowship trained in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and board certified in Dermatology. He also has advanced training in laser and cosmetic dermatology, especially facial rejuvenation. He looks forward to applying his skills to address your skin problems and concerns with the dignity and respect you deserve.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Sara Brooks, a Board Certified Dermatologist, is a Maryland native originally from St. Marys County. She attended the Honors college at University of Maryland, College Park, obtaining both a Bachelors in Cell Biology and a Masters in Management and Organization. She went on to medical school at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, where she was inducted into AOA, the prestigious medical honor society. After graduation, she performed a medical internship at Thomas Jefferson University, also in Philadelphia. Her path led her back to the DC area as a resident in both Internal Medicine and Dermatology at Georgetown University and Washington Hospital Center, where she served as Chief Resident of Dermatology. She also completed a Melanoma Fellowship at the Washington Cancer Institute, focusing on the expert identification and treatment of pigmented lesions and cutaneous malignancies. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, member of the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, and American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons. Voted "Top Dermatologist", Washingtonian Magazine for 2014 and 2015. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music and enjoys adult coloring books.
