Care Philosophy: My background is electrical engineering and, in a way, that's still what I do. Though now my focus is the electrical engineering of the heart. I'm motivated by a desire to help my patients feel better and retain as normal a lifestyle as possible despite the presence of significant heart disease.

Her internship in Internal Medicine was completed at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas followed by a Fellowship in Cardiology and Electrophysiology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. She stayed on staff at the Duke University Medical Center for 2 years and then joined the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Hurwitz is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Electrophysiology. She has served in the past as Chief of Cardiology at Medical City Hospital and is currently Director of the Electrophysiology Lab at Medical City Hospital, Dallas.Dr. Hurwitz is President of the North Texas Electrophysiology Society and has served on the board of healthcare policy for the Heart Rhythm Society and the Women's Leadership Initiative Task Force. She is currently on the board of directors for Heart Rhythm Society. In addition, she serves on the electrophysiology council of the American College of Cardiology.Dr. Hurwitz is a specialist in Electrophysiology (the study of normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms). She performs EP studies with radio frequency ablation, atrial fibrillation ablations, as well as pacemaker and defibrillator implantation. Dr. Hurwitz is published widely and participates extensively in clinical and device trials. Dr. Hurwitz has been named several times to the Best Doctors in Dallas and Texas Super Doctors. She lives in Dallas with her daughter.

Biography: This physician is accepting telehealth visits. Dr. Bilal Ayub is a board certified Cardiac electrophysiologist at Heart and Vascular Specialists of North Texas. He provides comprehensive treatment of heart rhythm disorders. Dr. Ayub completed his internship and residency at Abington Memorial Hospital /Thomas Jefferson University. He served as a chief resident after finishing his internal Medicine residency. He then completed a cardiovascular fellowship at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, PA where he also served as the chief fellow for two years. Then Dr. Ayub completed two years advanced cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at Yale School of Medicine. Throughout his medical training, Dr. Ayub has participated in various research projects and has published more than 45 articles, book chapters and abstracts. Dr. Ayub has presented his research at various local and national meetings. He has particular interests in the management of Atrial Fibrillation and Ventricular Tachycardia.

Tamirisa, MD, FACC, FHRS.Dr. Tamirisa completed her training in Internal Medicine and served as Chief Resident at St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri. She then went on to complete her General Cardiology, Cardiac Electrophysiology, and Cardiac MRI fellowships at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. She subsequently joined a large cardiology group (ProMedica Physicians Cardiology). She was part of ProMedica Health System in Ohio where she served as the Director of the Arrhythmia clinic, ProMedica Heart Institute Board member & Heart Institute EP council member. While maintaining active cardiology practice, she took a lead in building bridges across physicians, staff and administration. She was also the Director of Education. Part of her role was to help with cardiology training of house staff to further The University of Toledo teaching affiliation with ProMedica. Dr. Tamirisa's special interests in Cardiac Electrophysiology include leadless technology, syncope, cardiac resynchronization therapy, advances in alternate site pacing & stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation. She also has interest in ablation of SVT & atrial fibrillation (cryoablation & radiofrequency), defibrillation and pacing technologies. Care Philosophy: Faraz Kerendi, M.D is originally from Los Angeles, California. He earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. His residency in general surgery and cardiac surgery fellowship were both completed at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Kerendi is board-certified in general surgery and thoracic surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Heart Association, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery and the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Dr. Kerendi has received numerous research and teaching awards and published multiple papers in the field of cardiothoracic surgery. His clinical areas of interest include aortic root surgery, minimally invasive valve surgery, endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms, off-pump coronary artery bypass, heart transplantation, and video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). Prior to joining CTVS in July 2009, Dr. Kerendi was the chief resident of cardiothoracic surgery at Emory University School of Medicine.
