Biography: Dr. Greg Westmoreland is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship trained Sports Medicine specialist in South and Northwest Austin. He specializes in treating shoulders and knees in addition to general orthopedics. Dr. Westmoreland grew up in the Houston area and graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Baylor University with a degree in Biology. Dr. Westmoreland attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, graduating first in his class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Honor Society, an honor recognizing those who have graduated in the top 10% of their medical school class. Dr. Westmoreland completed his orthopedic residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2000. Training at Grady Memorial Hospital, a level one trauma center, he gained vast experience in all types of orthopedic fractures and learned valuable lessons in the conservative treatment of orthopedic problems. In 2001 Dr. Westmoreland completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic where he served as one of the team physicians for the University of Tennessee. His fellowship training focused on arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and knee problems, as well as shoulder and knee replacement for arthritic conditions. Dr. Westmoreland always considers a conservative approach to treatment first. His goal is to return the patient back to the level of activity they desire. If surgery is necessary, Dr. Westmoreland recognizes the trust a patient must place in him , and he takes great care in walking each patient through the entire process, from pre-operative evaluation through post-operative recovery.

He received his undergraduate degree at University of Wisconsin and received his Doctor of Medicine degree at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. He completed residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Cincinnati. He is Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery.His interest in orthopedic surgery began during medical school when he rotated through different areas of medicine. During an emergency medicine rotation he was able to observe orthopedic surgeons take care of trauma patients with serious injuries. It was then that he decided to pursue a career in orthopedics.Dr. Simon enjoys the ability to take patients with injuries or chronic pain and make their lives better. A patient with painful arthritis in the knee can often return to a normal, pain-free life after knee replacement surgery. Those are the type of things that makes him like orthopedics. Dr. Simon says "Seeing happy patients come back over the years is very satisfying as an orthopedic surgeon. It's a fulfilling profession".Dr. Simon takes a slightly more conservative approach to patient care. He prefers to provide surgical and nonsurgical options for his patients by going through all the available options and determining the best approach for each individual person. Dr. Simon's goal is to help his patients achieve pain-free activities as much as possible by finding either surgical or nonsurgical treatment options

Biography: David R. Schmidt, M.D., received his medical degree and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he was named the 2002 Distinguished Medical Alumnus. He completed fellowships in sports medicine and knee surgery in Sydney, Australia, and Auckland, New Zealand.Dr. Schmidt has been in private practice since 1986. He served as physician for the U.S. Olympic Festival, the World University Games in Japan, the Olympic Games in Atlanta and the NBA All-Star Game. He currently serves as the team physician for the NBA San Antonio Spurs, the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) athletics, Trinity University and many local high school. He was named the NBATA Team Physician of the Year in 2004, and was awarded the 2007 Dr. Ernst Jokl Sports Medicine Award by the United States Sports Academy. He currently serves as president elect of the NBA Physicians Association.Dr. Schmidt is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. His expertise is in knee surgery and cartilage repair/restoration.
