Further, he completed post-baccalaureate studies in biochemistry as well as graduate coursework and research in human and animal genetics. He graduated medical school from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, AL, and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute, in Columbia, MO. Furthermore, he completed a one-year orthopaedic surgery, sports medicine fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, PA, sub-specializing in advanced arthroscopic techniques, limb realignment, and shoulder replacement.He is a candidate member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and a fellow member of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.Dr. Raines has a passion for sports medicine and the health of athletes. During the past 16 years, he has treated and worked on the sports medicine teams for middle and high school athletics, as well as collegiate and professional programs, including the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Steelers, the University of Alabama, University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, and University of Missouri athletics.
