Biography: Naomi Berezin is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and Critical Care at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She specializes in both emergency and elective general surgery to treat such conditions as gallbladder disease, hernias, diverticulitis, and bowel obstruction, as well as the care of critically ill surgical patients. Dr Berezin's two passions are patient care and medical education. "I liked working with my hands as a child," says Dr. Berezin, who continued that interest in college at New York University where she studied English literature and music, before going on to complete the Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Program at Columbia University. "Working with my hands is what drew me to surgery." Dr. Berezin talks to patients about their diagnosis and treatment using language they can grasp. She is dually board-certified in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. After graduating from Sackler School of Medicine, Dr Berezin went on to complete her general surgery residency training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. She then completed a trauma and surgical critical care fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center before embarking on her career at Yale School of Medicine.

Biography: Marco B. Zoccali is a minimally invasive surgeon with extensive expertise in the treatment of the broad range of colorectal diseases including IBD, colon and rectal cancers, and benign colorectal diseases. He received his medical degree at the Catholic University in Rome, Italy where he also completed his surgical training. He then came to the USA where he did a Minimally Invasive Gastrointestinal Surgery Fellowship at the University of Chicago followed by a surgical residency at Weill Cornell Medical Center. Biography: Dr. Bret Taback is a nationally recognized surgical oncologist in the New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center department of surgery. Dr. Taback is a leader in the clinical management of melanoma, sarcoma and skin/soft tissue tumor surgery. Dr. Taback is the Director of the Melanoma and Sarcoma Program and Director of the Breast Surgery Fellowship. Dr. Taback received his MD degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston , and completed his general surgery residency at Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital. During that time he completed a Basic Science Research Fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School in Boston. Following this, he completed a fellowship in Complex Surgical Oncology at the John Wayne Cancer Institute, Santa Monica, California. Dr. Taback is a member of a number of organizations and societies including Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Association for Cancer Research. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Most recently, Dr. Taback is a noted Castle Connolly Top Doctor.
