Biography: Erica Eldon, DO is an Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. She specializes in treating patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal and spine injuries. Dr. Eldon is board eligible in both Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine. She completed her undergraduate education at University of California Los Angeles, received her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from Midwestern University-Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, underwent residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital where she also served as Chief Resident, and completed a multidisciplinary pain medicine fellowship at Weill Cornell/NewYork Presbyterian Hospital, Hospital for Special Surgery, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Ilya Iofin is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital. His subspecialty is Orthopaedic Oncology. Dr. Iofin received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine. He completed residency in orthopaedic surgery at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. His fellowship training in orthopaedic oncology was done at the Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University. Dr. Iofin specializes in the treatment of benign and malignant tumors of bone and soft tissue in patients of all ages. The treatment ranges from minimally invasive procedures to extensive limb sparing surgeries. The care of each patient involves a multidisciplinary team approach. Dr. Iofin works closely with musculoskeletal radiologists, pathologists, medical and radiation oncologists to provide the best medical care.

Biography: Gordon Baltuch MD, PhD, FACS, FRCS(C) is the Co-Chief of Functional Neurosurgery Division at Columbia Neurosurgery. Dr. Baltuch specializes in the surgical treatment of movement disorders and was previously director of the Penn Center for Functional and Restorative Neurosurgery and professor of neurosurgery at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, where he had been a faculty member since 1996. Dr. Baltuch was one of the first neurosurgeons in the United States to use deep brain stimulation to reduce tremor and other motor symptoms in people with Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. After training in Montreal, Switzerland, and France, Dr. Baltuch moved to Penn to develop one of the first deep brain stimulation programs in the United States. He has treated more than 1,600 patients using the procedure, making him one of the most experienced neurosurgeons in functional neurosurgery. He also pioneered the use of the technology to treat epilepsy, depression, and Alzheimer's disease. More recently, Dr. Baltuch also became a pioneer in the use of focused ultrasound, a nonsurgical procedure approved in 2016 to treat essential tremor. Since 2017, he has successfully performed hundreds of these procedures and developed Penn's focused ultrasound program into one of the largest such practices in the country. As a researcher, Dr. Baltuch is at the forefront in the testing of new restorative approaches, including gene therapy for Parkinson's disease and, more recently, stem cell therapy for stroke. He also conducts fundamental neuroscience studies of the human brain supported by federal funding, including the White House Brain Initiative. Before joining Penn, Dr. Baltuch completed a fellowship in Lausanne, Switzerland, and a residency in neurosurgery at the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI). He earned his MD and PhD degrees at McGill University. Among other honors, Dr. Baltuch received the Wilder Penfield Award in Neurosurgery from the MNI, the K.G. McKenzie Award for Basic Science Research from the Canadian Neurosurgical Society, and the Luigi Mastroianni Clinical Innovator Award of Excellence from the Faculty of Medicine at Penn. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.

Biography: Dr. Manubay has a background in Family Medicine, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Substance Abuse at Columbia University. Afterward, she joined our Division as a junior faculty member working with Dr. Maria Sullivan and Dr. Sandra Comer, primarily focusing on research of opioid dependence. She continues to provide supervision and medical coverage for research studies in our Division. In addition, she has extensive clinical experience with MAT with buprenorphine and was the Medical Director of the Buprenorphine Program of Columbia University from 2008-2011. She is also the Clinical Director of the Opioid Overdose Prevention Program at NYSPI, and for all of the Ambulatory Care Network outpatient clinics at both NYP-Columbia and Cornell campuses. As a part-time faculty member in the Department of Family Medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia, she works at the outpatient office, Farrell Clinic, and teaches medical students and residents. Her interests are in opioid research and in implementing MAT in the outpatient clinics to help expand care to more individuals with opioid use disorder.

Biography: Dr. Philip L. De Jager is professor of neurology. After graduating from Yale University with a degree in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry, Dr. De Jager received a PhD in Neurogenetics from Rockefeller University and an MD from Cornell University Medical College, before completing his MMSc in Clinical Investigation at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and MIT. He served as a neurology resident in the Partners Neurology Residency Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital. He then joined the faculty at HMS, rising to the rank of associate professor before joining CUIMC. The goal of Dr. De Jager's work as a clinician-scientist is to apply modern methods of neuro-immunology, statistical genetics, and systems biology to the understanding of common neurodegenerative diseases. At CUIMC, Dr. De Jager serves as Chief of the Department of Neurology's Division of Neuroimmunology, which includes the Columbia University Multiple Sclerosis Center and focuses on characterizing and targeting the neuro-immunologic component of neurodegenerative disease. Dr. De Jager also serves as the director of a new Center for Translational & Computational Neuro-Immunology.

Biography: Dr. Elaine Wan is the Esther Aboodi Associate Professor of Medicine in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology at Columbia University Medical Center, College of Physicians and Surgeons and attending physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She is trained in Internal Medicine, Clinical Cardiology and is an invasive cardiac electrophysiologist. She is the Director of Electrophysiology Research and oversees all electrophysiology clinical trials. She performs implantation of cardiac devices including pacemaker and defibrillators, as well as ablation of arrhythmias. Dr. Wan is a physician-scientist and focuses on development of novel treatments for heart failure, vascular dysfunction and arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation. She is a translational researcher also interested in development of innovative imaging modalities to improve ablation delivery. Dr. Wan is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She received her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed her fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia. Dr. Wan is on the Board of Trustees of the Heart Rhythm Society. She is the Chairperson for the NIH Study Section of Imaging Technology Development. She is also the Chairperson-elect for the American Heart Association Committee on Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology. Dr. Wan is the recipient of numerous national and international awards including NIH R01s, R03, K08, the 2016 American College of Cardiology Young Investigator Award First Place in Molecular Cellular Cardiology, 2016 Young Physician Investigator Award from the American Society of Clinical Investigators, 2016 Cardiostim/Europace Best Young EP Presentation (Nice, France) and the 2008 American Heart Association Women in Cardiology for Clinical Excellence.She is the recipient of several competitive research grants including NIH NHLBI K08 Mentored Career Development Award, NIH NHLBI R03 Small Grant Program and NIH NHLBI R01 to study the use of 3D mitochondrial dysfunction imaging in cardiac arrhythmias. She is also a recipient of the American Heart Association Scientist Development Grant, grant support from the Foundation of Gender Specific Medicine, Columbia University Louis V. Gerstner Jr. Scholars Program, and Columbia University Provost's Grants Program for Junior Faculty who Contribute to the Diversity Goals of the University. She is vice co-chair of the Heart Rhythm Society Digital Health Committee and a member of the American Heart Association Committee on Electrocardiography and Arrhythmias. She has published over 100 manuscripts in high impact journals such as Nature Medicine, Circulation, Science Translational Medicine, Circulation Research, Journal of Clinical Investigation and Journal of American College of Cardiology. She has written 3 book chapters and given invited talks around the world.

Biography: Dr. Kevin Clerkin is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and cardiologist, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with advanced heart failure. His practice includes those requiring left ventricular assist device or heart transplantation. He also attends as a cardiac intensivist. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology.Dr. Clerkin received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He completed additional training in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He also received a Master of Science degree in Patient Oriented Research/Biostatistics from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.Dr. Clerkin is an NIH funded clinical investigator and his research focuses on improving the quality of life and survival in heart transplant recipients. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed manuscripts, reviews, abstracts, and book chapters. His work has been published in prestigious peer-reviewed journals including Circulation, Journal of American College of Cardiology, Journal of American College of Cardiology Heart Failure, Circulation - Heart Failure, JAMA Cardiology, The New England Journal of Medicine, and The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
