Biography: Dr. Ja Hyun Shin is the Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and has expertise in advanced laparoscopic and robotic procedures. She is passionate about helping women who suffer from endometriosis, fibroids, adenomyosis, and other pelvic pain and bleeding disorders. She is dedicated to providing women with the least invasive but most effective treatment options, which include both surgical and non-surgical approaches. Dr. Shin completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University Medical Center followed by a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She completed additional training in robotic surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, after which she joined the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. During her time at Montefiore Medical Center, Dr. Shin served as the Director of Pelvic Pain and Multidisciplinary Resident Robotic Training and was the Associate Director of the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Fellowship Program. Within these roles, Dr. Shin focused on the education and training of residents, fellows, and faculty in performing safe minimally invasive surgeries. Dr. Shin is committed to practicing evidence-based medicine and providing her patients with the most current information to optimize the decision-making process. She sits on numerous national committees and is active in research activities to help establish best practice guidelines, improve surgical techniques, and reduce surgical complications. She has been invited to speak and train other surgeons at national and international conferences extensively and has published her work in numerous peer-reviewed journals.

Biography: Dr. Samantha M. Pfeifer is an Associate Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology and Clinical Reproductive Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. A board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist and reproductive endocrinologist, her specialties include in vitro fertilization, ovulation induction and fertility preservation (egg freezing). She has a special interest in reproductive surgery, and is a noted expert on the surgical management of Mllerian anomalies. Dr. Pfeifer is regularly featured in Castle Connolly's annual Best Doctor list, among other regional and national best-physician lists. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Pfeifer is active in leading professional societies as well as medical research and education. She serves as Chair of the Practice Committee of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and has authored or co-authored original research on IVF, Mllerian anomalies and the management of hormonal disorders in adolescent girls. Dr. Pfeifer is a frequent invited speaker at regional and national medical conferences, and has been recognized for her commitment to the education of the next generation of physicians, including by the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology's Mentor of the Year Award in 2010. Dr. Pfeifer graduated from Bryn Mawr College with an A.B. in Economics. She completed her medical degree, residency (Obstetrics & Gynecology) and fellowship (Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility), all at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Pfeifer joined Penn's faculty after her fellowship, and was an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director of Reproductive Surgery before joining Weill Cornell Medical College in 2013.
