Dr. Hemashi Perera, MD

I was diagnosed with a short cervix and gestational diabetes which made my pregnancy high risk. It was our first pregnancy and we felt so scared. Dr. Perera was very informative, supportive, attentive, and comforting throughout our whole pregnancy. We almost miscarried at 19 weeks of pregnancy but through her quick actions and constant monitoring, we now have our healthy and beautiful baby girl who turns 19 months in a few days.Her most VALUABLE trait was how fast she got back to us when something weird was going on. Despite how busy she was, she didn't let a day go by (at the latest) before reaching out to us. We were extremely grateful we chose her as our OB.

As a physician myself, I could not be happier being under the care of Dr. Perera. Every concern of mine was always adequately addressed. She is incredibly competent, has wonderful bedside manner, and is a skilled surgeon. My pregnancy and delivery had some complications that were handled beautifully and have since then sent multiple friends her way.

Dr. Perera was kind, attentive, and made me feel comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised that I could barely feel the pelvic exam at all. She answered all my questions and addressed my concerns. I liked that the visit was quick, while still addressing all my concerns.

I love working with Dr. Perera and really trust her. She's never made me feel silly or small and always answers any questions I may have. She was also truly compassionate during my miscarriage and very patient and understanding during my subsequent pregnancy. I'm so thankful she'll be delivering my baby.

She is the best of the best. Professional, knowledgeable, takes her time. I found her by accident when she first started. I could always get an appointment. Now...we’ll, I’ll just say I am glad I am not in childbearing years anymore. I go for my annual checkups. You will not be sorry.

She knows her stuff but you will feel like you are rushed out of her office every single appointment. I am pregnant and my appointment lasts for no more than 5-7 minutes. She is giving you information for you to remember while she is doing your check up. You will forget all your questions if you do not write them down beforehand as she talks REALLY fast. If you like slow paced appointments then you wont like her. There is no wait time if you show up on time.

This review is about the doctor and the office staff in general. In short, the doctor quoted a low price for a treatment which everyone in the office staff, including the billing person and the office mananger, Minna, confirmed. When the bill came months later, I was billed a much higher price. When I called the staff, they ALL denied quoting me the price they quoted and forced me to pay the higher price I NEVER heard or agreed to. Even the Minna's supervisor backed up her staff. STAY AWAY f

She's the most knowledgeable and passionate OBGYN I've seen. She truly cares for her patients. And the staff at Columbia are always respectful.

I met Doctor Pereira for my first pregnancy, she is perfect and would definitely recommend her. She is deeply experienced, professional and knowledgeable, while at the same time very patient to answer all of my questions. She made the difference in the delivery room making me feel comfortable and super motivated.

I went to Dr. Perera for a routine yearly exam. I found her to be professional, knowledgeable and very pleasant, her bedside manner was wonderful and made me feel very comfortable. She addressed all my concerns and did not rush my time with her.
