Biography: Gretchen Aquilina, DO, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained bariatric and gastrointestinal surgeon with Advanced Surgical Partners of Virginia in Richmond. Dr. Aquilina completed her undergraduate degree at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed her five-year surgical residency training at Rowan University School of Medicine in New Jersey. Following her residency, Dr. Aquilina completed her fellowship in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University. After her fellowship, she stayed at VCU as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. Biography: Barton Smith, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon with TriCities Surgical Associates in Colonial Heights, Virginia. Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Virginia for both his undergraduate and medical degrees in 1978 and 1982, respectively. He completed his internship at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, in 1983, and his residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., in 1988, upon which time he returned to Central Virginia. Dr. Smith has been caring for patients in the TriCities community and working in partnership with Dr. Rayudu Jujjavarapu since 1988.
