Biography: Telehealth visits are available.Jori Carter, MD, MS, FACOG, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained gynecologic oncologist with Virginia Gynecologic Oncology in Richmond, Virginia, an affiliate of the HCA Healthcare Sarah Cannon Cancer Network at Henrico Doctors' Hospital.Dr. Carter received her Doctor of Medicine from University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Boston University with Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. She then went on to earn a Master of Science in Clinical Research at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health and completed fellowship training in gynecologic oncology with University of Minnesota Medical School. Prior to medical school, she also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychobiology from Mills College in Oakland, California. Dr. Carter is dual board certified in Gynecologic Oncology and Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Carter specializes in providing comprehensive cancer care for women who have been diagnosed with cancers of the cervix, ovaries, uterus, vagina, vulva, and endometrium. She has been published for her numerous research studies on gynecologic cancers. Dr. Carter is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, and American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition, she has been named a Top Doc in Richmond Magazine most years since 2015.When not caring for patients, Dr. Carter enjoys spending time with her two children and husband, reading, hiking, and traveling.

Biography: Birgit Arb, MD, is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist with LewisGale Physicians serving patients in Pulaski, Virginia, and the surrounding community. Dr. Arb received her undergraduate degree in chemistry from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and her medical degree from Pennsylvania State University School of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Dr. Arb completed her residency in internal medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, followed by her fellowship in medical oncology at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine-CCCWFU in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.Dr. Arb is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and medical oncology and holds a certification from the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program. She is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and North Carolina Oncology Association. Additionally, she has served as a board member and president for the North Carolina Oncology Association. She most recently has received a patient nominated Guardian Angel award and subsequent pinning for excellence in patient care. She has over 25 years of experience delivering comprehensive, patient-focused hematology and oncology care. Dr. Arb offers a variety of services including diagnostic bone marrow biopsies and aspirations, chemotherapy treatment planning and implementation, supportive care for infusion therapies, blood tests, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy. She believes in delivering compassionate care to each patient and works collaboratively with patients to develop the best plan of care.Outside of the practice, Dr. Arb enjoys attending Virginia Tech athletic events, being part of the Literacy Volunteers of the New River Valley, biking, hiking, and spending time with family.

Biography: Telehealth visits are available. Dr. Jessie joined MFAMA in 2012 from Los Angeles, California where he completed residency and fellowship. In addition to the management of maternal morbidity complicating pregnancy, he has expertise in prenatal ultrasound, genetic counseling, management of cervical incompetence, and optimal fetal and maternal health through diet and exercise. He has completed research evaluating preterm labor, maternal birth trauma, diabetes in pregnancy, post-partum depression, fetal programming and fetal hypoxia. He has authored and co-authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed publications and text books regarding these topics. Dr. Jessie has special interest in pre-conceptual maternal health evaluation with targeted dietary/nutritional goals for optimal fetal and maternal health. He has been instrumental in the expansion and establishment of state-of-the-art perinatal centers in the rapidly growing Loudoun and Prince William counties in Northern Virginia.Dr. Jessie is a member of The American Medical Association, The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, The National Medical Association and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is also certified by Nuchal Translucency Quality Review Program (NTQR).
