Biography: Vipul Patel, MD, FACS, is the director of the Global Robotics Institute at AdventHealth Celebration. He leads one of the world's most experienced robotic surgery teams and travels around the world to educate physicians and care for patients. He is the editor emeritus of The Journal of Robotic Surgery and editor of the first-ever robotic urology textbook. Dr. Patel is world-renowned for his contribution to the field of robotic surgery and is committed to personalized patient care and quality outcomes. He is one of the most experienced robotic surgeons in the world and has personally performed over 16,000 robotic prostatectomies. In addition, Dr. Patel is the medical director of the AdventHealth Celebration Cancer Institute Urologic Oncology Program. He is a professor of urology at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando, Florida, and a clinical associate professor of urology at Nova Southeastern University, also in Orlando. He is the founder of the International Prostate Cancer Foundation (IPCF) and a founding member of the Society of Robotic Surgery. He serves as an honorary professor at the University of Milan, Korea University and Ricardo Palma University in Lima, Peru, and was recently made an honorary professor of the Russian Academy of Science. Dr. Patel previously served as director of the Robotic Surgery Program at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, prior to joining AdventHealth Celebration in 2008. During his tenure, he was also in charge of minimally invasive urologic surgery and associate professor of urology and bioinformatics. Dr. Patel is board certified by the American Urological Association and completed his residency and fellowship training at the University of Miami in Florida.

Biography: Dr. Ghalyaie is board certified and fellowship trained in colon and rectal surgery. She specializes in treating diseases and disorders of the colon, rectum and anus, including cancer and hereditary cancer syndromes, inflammatory bowel disease, and complex anorectal conditions. Fluent in English and Farsi, Dr. Ghalyaie performs an array of minimally invasive surgical procedures such as robotic surgery, laparoscopic surgery and transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM). She also is skilled in performing sphincter-preserving surgery for rectal malignancies and inflammatory bowel disease to avoid the need for a permanent colostomy.Dr. Ghalyaie completed medical school at Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran before moving to the U.S. for internship training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Her five years of residency training spanned three institutions: Baylor College of Medicine, The Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, and Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. Dr. Ghalyaie went on to complete colon and rectal surgery fellowship training at Henry Ford Hospital/Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.

Care Philosophy: Juan Omana, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon with advanced training in minimally invasive surgical techniques and clinical research. He received his medical degree from the Universidad de Montemorelos in Mexico before relocating to New York where he completed his residencies and fellowships, including a prestigious clinical research fellowship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Omana specializes in procedures to treat acid reflux and other gastrointestinal conditions, hernias and endocrine disorders. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and frequently publishes his clinical findings in peer-reviewed journals and publications. She was one of the first surgeons in the U.S. to offer laparo-endoscopic single site (LESS) surgery and continues to be a thought leader in developing new and improved minimally invasive procedures. She is co-director of the Advanced GI and HBP Surgery Fellowship at the Digestive Health Institute, which trains new surgeons to master minimally invasive complex surgery.

A graduate of the University of Utah, Dr. Keeler earned his medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine before going on to complete a residency in general surgery at the Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming, MI where he achieved the rank of Co-Chief Resident. Prior to joining AdventHealth, Dr. Keeler served as Chief of Surgery at Good Shepherd Health Care System in Hermiston, OR.
