Biography: Stephen Downs, MD is board certified in Family Medicine. He joined Alexandria Neurosurgical Clinic in 2005. Dr. Downs attended Medical School at Louisiana State University where he graduated in 1995. Afterwards, he completed his residency at the University of Kentucky in 1998. He practices exclusively in the treatment of spine disorders including back and neck pain. His practice focuses on the conservative/non-operative treatment of these conditions and does not require a physician referral for an appointment. Dr. Downs is as member of the Rapides Parish Medical Society and the North American Spine Society.

Biography: M. Lawrence Drerup, MD, FACS, FICS, is a board-certified neurosurgeon. He has been with Alexandria Neurosurgical Clinic since 1989 where he continues to delivery exceptional, patient focused-care. He maintains a very active practice caring for patients with a wide variety of general Neurosurgical conditions. He specializes in minimally invasive microscopic techniques for spine surgery and has been instrumental in the development of these techniques. He continues to provide cutting edge technology for spinal surgery and is an educator in this field. He holds a clinical staff teaching position with a L.S.U.-Shreveport. Dr. Drerup is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of the Rapides Parish Medical Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons.
