Biography: Dr. Shoaf is a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist specializing in Mood Disorders, Attention Deficit Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, and Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Sleep Disorders and Forensics (legal, custody, and court-related matters). In his practice, Dr. Shoaf emphasizes the importance of whole health in a goal-oriented approach. Dr. Shoaf has extensive experience in psychopharmacology, has been the Principal Investigator of more than thirty clinical trials while serving on faculty and teaching at the University of Chicago and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He also served as Senior Medical Director of Clinical Research and Development in a global biopharmaceutical company. He oversaw the development of medications now approved by the FDA and European regulatory agencies for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, epilepsy, and narcolepsy. Dr. Shoaf received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University, his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, and his graduate degree from Northwestern University. He completed residency training in General Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Medical School, and fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Childrens Medical Center of Dallas. Dr. Shoaf is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is an elected member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Shoaf has authored numerous publications including the first book on comorbidities of ADHD, which was published by McGraw Hill.
