I also do not believe in using opioids and believe their harms far outweigh the benefits. I have performed over five hundred major and minor surgeries without the use of opioids after surgery. Biography: Dr. Erika Van Doorn is a board certified General and Critical Care Surgeon. She?comes to us from Texas after living there for 14 years.??She completed her general surgery residency and Surgical Critical care fellowship in Houston at Baylor College of Medicine. After her training, she worked at several facilities in Texas with Envision but her primary site of work was at Medical city Plano, in Plano Texas (Level 1 trauma center). ?In 2019 she moved to Florida where has worked at HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital. Since 2013, she has been busy working in level 1 and level 2 trauma centers as trauma, acute care and surgical critical care surgeon.??She also worked closely with the trauma director and coordinators to help with the level 1 designation at Medical City Plano.?In September of 2020 she took the role of trauma Medical Director at HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital where she was able to stabilize the program and successfully passed American College of Medicine level 2 consultative visit.
