Biography: Through thousands of surgeries and years of experience, Dr. Kolovich has emerged as one of the region's most gifted hand specialists and while his reputation is one that's well earned, the journey there didn't always run in a straight line. Starting out in his academic career, Kolovich pursued engineering while attending Atlanta's Georgia Tech University with the goal of eventually working for NASA. But it was a side job at an organ and tissue procurement company during college that ultimately set him on the path to orthopedics. He would ultimately earn his engineering degree, but only as a stepping stone to medical school at The Ohio State University. Following a Harvard University Fellowship, he set his sights on Georgia and found his new home at Optim Orthopedics, specializing in the treatment of fractures, carpal tunnel, trigger finger and traumas. While Dr. Kolovich offers the latest in cutting-edge surgical techniques, he first explores all non-surgical options from physical therapy to regenerative medicine, including stem cell injections.

Biography: Dr. Levit completed specialty training in hand and upper extremity surgery at the Curtis National Hand Center, a prestigious program in Baltimore, Maryland, designated by Congress as The National Center for the Treatment of the Hand and Upper Extremity. Dr. Levit is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and has received a Certificate of Added Qualification in hand surgery.Dr. Levit utilizes the most advanced minimally invasive procedures to treat common upper extremity conditions, in addition to many common general orthopaedic problems and conditions. Most of his procedures are performed on an outpatient basis under regional anesthesia, allowing for a more pleasant surgical experience.Dr. Levit also provides specialized medical care for many of the area's collegiate and high school athletes. His goal is for his patients to resume their normal level of activity and participation in sports as quickly and painlessly as possible, while providing a relaxed, caring medical setting.

Biography: Dr. Deshpande is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and specializes in orthopaedic trauma, joint replacement, anterior hip replacement and general orthopaedics. Double majoring in Marine Biology and Secondary Education at Boston University, he then attended New York Medical College where he received his MD. After completing his internship and residency at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, Dr. Deshpande completed a fellowship at the Georgia Orthopaedic Trauma Institute in Macon. In May 2013, Dr. Deshpande was recognized for his work in the field with a nomination for physician of the year. Dr. Deshpande has given lectures and presentations for various orthopaedic events across the U.S. since 2006. He has also been involved in orthopaedic research and has several peer-reviewed publications. In addition to his orthopaedic work, Dr. Deshpande has volunteered his time as a captain, driver, lieutenant and other positions in community fire departments.

Biography: During residency and fellowship, Dr. Sofianos received comprehensive training from the Departments of Neurosurgery and Orthopaedic Surgery in all aspects of spine care, from motion preservation correction surgery to the latest minimally invasive techniques and state-of-the-art instrumentation for both the cervical and lumbar spine. Additionally, he treats a wide range of muscular and skeletal trauma.Dr. Sofianos has published numerous scientific articles and book chapters on orthopaedic and spine surgery. With AOspine North America, he helped develop a software database to track and report patient outcomes to improve spine care. Additionally, he has been welcomed internationally as a visiting surgeon and educator in various countries, including Burma, Australia and Ghana.Dr. Sofianos has a special interest in treatment of the aging spine and motion preservation procedures in the cervical and lumbar spine, including disc replacement, laminoplasty and minimally invasive microsurgery.

Biography: Dr. Niemeier is an orthopedic spine surgeon who provides consultation and treatment for patients with all spinal disorders. Dr. Niemeier earned a bachelor's degree at Clemson University before attending medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center where he was selected as the Kurt Niemann Most Outstanding Resident. Following residency training, he went on to complete specialized fellowship training in Spine Surgery at the Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto, California. He has published over a dozen peer reviewed journal articles on a wide spectrum of orthopedic topics, is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), North American Spine Society (NASS) and AO Spine, and continues to have an active role in clinical research. In addition to the latest techniques in spinal reconstruction, Dr. Niemeier is trained in minimally invasive surgery and motion-preserving techniques.

Biography: Dr. Ochsner, a native of Savannah, specializes in sports medicine with a focus on knee and shoulder arthroscopy, hip arthroscopy and preservation, elbow arthroscopy, ulnar collateral ligament (Tommy John) surgery, and general orthopaedics. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic in Memphis and his fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. Over the course of his training, he assisted in the care of multiple high school, collegiate and professional teams including the University of Memphis athletic programs, Rhodes University athletic programs, Memphis Redbirds baseball team, Memphis Grizzlies basketball team, Birmingham Barons baseball team and the University of Alabama athletics. Dr. Ochsner and his wife have two children. He enjoys football, playing saxophone, hunting, fly-fishing and other outdoor activities with his family.

Biography: Dr. David Sedory, MD is an Orthopedic Surgery Specialist who practices in Savannah, GA. He is 46 years old. Dr. David Sedory, MD is affiliated with Memorial Health University Medical Center.

I believe this benefits my patients by assuring I am knowledgeable about the very latest treatment methods. I am thrilled to be a part of enhancing the quality of life for patients throughout the Lowcountry. \n While I practice general orthopedics, I am fellowship-trained in foot and ankle surgery. Other interests including trauma, sports injuries, forefoot reconstruction, ankle arthroscopy and total ankle replacement. I enjoy understanding each patient's unique condition, and helping each decide what treatment will best achieve their goals.

Biography: Dr. Holtzclaw began his private practice in Savannah after completing fellowships abroad. He maintains a strong interest in minimally invasive anterior approaches to hip replacement and complex hip fractures and reconstruction. He also is deeply interested in joint replacement surgery, including hip and knee replacements, as well as revision procedures. He continues to treat all general orthopaedic problems, and a significant portion of his practice involves outpatient procedures such as arthroscopy.
